I fished the Sol Duc Thursday through Saturday and had a great time hunting monster natives, and as usual they were everywhere. Floating a little piece of peach yarn seemed to be the most desireable set up, but they also seemed to like Bobs "candle treated" bronze vibrax. When the mountain melt clouded her up on Saturday, pink worms were the ticket. I caught mostly teeners and my son got one in the 20's range, but my friend lost Godzilla when she took him under a log. This fish looked 10 inches to a foot wide from 15 feet away when it was in the air. I also had the pleasure and displeasure of fumbleing a 20ish springer in the Bark hole on Friday morning on a wrapped K16. At one point I had the entire front of my body in the river with my head towards the bank, my arms out stretched with the fish in them and the fish actually flip flopping in my face. I guess you could say at that point I kissed the fish goodbye. I just can't seem to get that tail grab down! I looked like a football player trying to grab a fumbled grease pig for 15 seconds or so. Must have been the left handed cigarette! I'll be back next weekend for sure.
