The only thing I can relate it to is golf: You can experience a really lousy day -- bad swing, atrocious putting stroke, awful weather -- but have that one or two good shots and you're all enthused about your next chance to play 18.
Then again, I don't find myself thinking about golf constantly, or feel like if I'm devoting time elsewhere -- be it lounging around or fixing a leaky pipe -- that I'm squandering an opportunity to be on the river. My wife says I'm possessed (she's started calling me Hemmingway), and my friends, even those that are steelheaders, agree. I can live with the jokes, but I'm not sure I could withstand more than a couple days at a time away from the water.
So take heart, Addict. And while it may not be true, everything seems great with the world so long as you're fishing.
I hear the Super Bowl's this Sunday. Anyone know who's playing?

My dear sir, you suffer from Oncorhynchus Mykiss Addictus (roughly translated to Steelhead fever). There's no cure and cold turkey causes grief upon family members and constant headache (and heartache) to the addict. Best thing to do is feed the need and grab the rod, vest, and waders and hit that favorite stream. It's only a temporary fix, but will keep the cold sweats at bay for a brief amount of time.

Since I work six days a week and can only fish Sunday's, I was kinda hoping that most of us fisherpeople would be home this Sunday. That would leave lots of open water for some of us diehards. Thats where I will be, of course, I will bring the radio! Wonder if there is a betting line on steelies to touches,uh, I mean touch-downs at Caesars Palace?

Try taking your most stout steelie pole and head to the closest park. Hide in the bushes, snag the first jogger that comes by and hold on tight. Now close your eyes and imagine you're on your favorite river. The fight doesn't last as long, but it might ease your pain.
