Hey guys Yahoo here. I am looking into buying a lavaro fiberglass 17ft driftboat guide special with the motor well. I believe the boats about 6 years old but its in great shape, oh ya, it also doesnt have a trailer. How much do you guys think its worth!!!! Would really appreciate some advice has the guy who owns it is moving out of state in about 3 days.

If you are interested in a guide boat for fly-fishing, I am selling my 17 ft. fiberglass boat. If interested, post a reply.

You didn't mention what the guy was going to include with the boat. A trailer will run you about a grand to 1500 as they are difficult to find used. Also does it have an anchor system, anchor, oars, heater(s) rod holders, fish box etc. You can spend another 1500 bucks just on the stuff to make it fishable. If the guy is leaving town and all of this is comming with the boat be sure it is the same sort of stuff you would install. Figure the boat at 75% of the new price and all of the extras at 50% of new. Without the trailer though I wouldn't venture to spend over 2500 for it as you can get a nice used boat with a trailer and lots of goodies for 4000 bucks. Good luck and watch out for the rocks in that glass boat. Rogue Runner

I think somewhere between $2,000 and $2,5000 is reasonable, depending what kind of accessories it's outfitted with. Lavros tend to hold their value, if for no other than owners don't tend to part with them. Before you write a check look over the hull -- top and bottom -- to make sure the fiberglass is in good shape. Take an especially good look at the corners for cracks. With a Lavro, particuarly a fairly new one, there shouldn't be much to worry about unless the boat has been abused and/or not properly maintained.
