I have decided to pick up a Chronarch. I can't decide between a standard Chronarch (approx.$179) or the new Chronarch SF(approx.$229). Has any body tried both? I have compared the two at the tackle shop and the SF seems smoother, and I like the color better. Is there a $50 difference? Thanks....

The gold color is worth the $50 extra! No, I couldn't tell the difference betwen them at the store. To bad a guy couldn't take something like that out and fish with it for a couple of days before he bought it. I've been thinking about gettig a Chronarch too,but I prefer left hand reels so the super free Cronarch is not an option for me. Anyway, where did you find the $179 price? All I have seen are $195.

I've been using the Chronarch for a little over 2 years now. It has been a great reel *except* that it has a hard time on long casts with really really light tackle. I'm talking light like a 5 BB (1/2")slinky. Aside from that, the reel has yet to experience a failure or any kind. The drag is crystal smooth after 2 seasons of abuse. Sorry, no experience with the SF model. Can't help you there.
