Was looking to purchase a couple of GL2 bouncing rods for kings. The BBR 904C is specifically made for this, but it's a one piece rod. I need a two piece model and was checking out the SAR 1084C, HSR 1025C and HSR 1023C. Anyone have experience with these models in this capacity? Any opinions will be helpful. Thanks.

If you are against building your own rod I can get you the needed supplies. I have just started a rod blank business. I have some blanks that are im6 and very nice for what your looking for at a fraction of the gloomis price. I can also get gloomis at 40% off retail if you want. My charge would be 10% above cost + shipping and tax.
I Don't have the loomis page up yet. Let me know what you need if interested? http://www.steelheader.net/gear/

Hoh,
Ive used all the rods you mentioned, I personall recomend the HSR 1025C. Its stiff enough to bacbounce with and handles k-15 and k -16 kwikfish great.
If you just want a backbouncer stick with the shorter 1 piece rod. I know they can be a pain in the butt to store and transport but, they are the ultimate backbouncer.
The SAR 1084 is too long and doesnt have the backbone for bouncing. The HSR 1023 has too light of a tip for heaey leads.
Hope this helps

Backbouncing is a technique I have never tried. I would like to try this on dogs in the Skagit next fall. My question is how much weight do you need to get those large kwikfish down and what length is the leader from the swivel to the kwikfish and swivel to the weight?

It all depends on the water you are fishing, But if you are looking for an all- around rod for this , it is hard to beat the 1021, I have fished mine with very lite leads and small kwikfish all the way up to loading that baby up with 8 to 10 ozs on a slider to get down in the deep fast water. If you are looking to spend a bunch of dough and want several differnt rods for different conditions, I fish the hsr series in 930, 982, and the 1021 for salmon, then for steelhead I go real lite with the smaller plugs and fish the hsr 9000 and just have a blast. I think these rods work better for the back bouncing then those big stiff broom sticks, but it is all personel preference once again. Peace superfly

I really like the HSR 1021C. It is a very versitle (2 pcs.) rod. If you are interested I could give you a quote on one. Check with Karol Purdy, a member of this page. I built him one last month.
