I have a 16ft Clackacraft driftboat, and both the rowing seat and front bench have two different positions such that I can move both benches toward the bow or stern approximately 4 inches. Are these to be used for trimming the boat to get it balanced better, or are they just for giving you more legroom?

I'm trying to figure out how to properly trim this boat. If I have two people in front, do I want both benches back as far as possible? I'm thinking that if they were in the forward position, that the bow of the boat would draft more, and thus create more drag. Your thoughts?

Seadeap,

Yes, those are for triming yer boat. The simplest way to figure out where you want them is to dump water in yer boat (it don't take much) when yer boat is trimed right the water will be at foot brace when yer at the paddles. This allows yer boat to be in the water so the wieght isn't to far forward and cause it to drag it's way allong, or to far back and make it wanna push and when you anchor it makes it wip back and forth. when you get the hang of it you won't need the water in the boat. you will be able to get in and adjust it by fealing how it is ridding. It will help yer boat to handle so much better when it's trimed right.

good luck,
