Fished the Kalama last Sunday from the Beginners Hole to the canyon. Zippo, nada, nothing. Heard of one steelhead rerun with two tags in it's back caught at first light, but that was all. The water seemed to be on the rise and green, higher than I expected with no recent rain. Good luck. The Kalama is always a sweetheart to fish even if you don't catch any.

Ditto. Fished the deadline down to red barn on Sunday. Nothing but a few cuts and recent salmon releases. There were quite a few bank anglers at Mudrow, but I don't know if they were catching anything. Stopped by at Prichard's and talked briefly with Wayne. His opinion was that there would be a good rush of fish with the first rain. It rained here in Tacoma last night, don't know if they got any down around Kalama. Like you say, it's a beautiful river, even when you don't catch fish.

Good luck! Help keep the river clean!

Likewise. On Sunday I fished several spots near Beginners Hole and Hatchery Creek. No hits, no fish. I talked with several other anglers. Ditto. Even worse, I ran into a pair of creel census clerks who hadn't recorded a fish being caught all day.

I also made a quick stop at the North Fork Lewis River near the hatchery to see what was happening. Still nothing.

The fish won that round. <@)(((><

Fished Friday afternoon. The water was way down and very clear. Only fished the red barn and several hundred yards down from there. Like the above, I didn't get a sniff. I talked to one gentleman who had talked to some boaters downstream. One of them had said they hooked two stealhead. I haven't got a clue!
