It's amazing what can happen in just a short two weeks! The highlight of yesterday's float down the Skykomish on a new demo Thor boat was a 20+ lb. buck!

Check out the Picture of the Week. http://staff.washington.edu/parker/pictureoftheweek.html

Thanks for everyone on this board for your support and help! Special thanks to Joe and Thor boats for loaning us the demo boat! Looks like you'll be getting a custom order in on Monday!

Isn't the grass always greener on the rivers you didn't get to fish?

Or was that the steelhead are always larger and more abundant on the rivers you didn't get to fish?

The Sky can be a very productive river. Like any river system, the more you know about the river, where the fish are, and what to use to catch them always plays the biggest role in your success.

Although I could answer in the positive to all of your questions, I would recommend hiring a guide for a day. You'll probably be more productive with a guide and most of the local guides will talk your ears off about the Sky and how and where to fish it. Look up Chris "Ole" Olson or Rod Bush. If they can't book you, I'm sure they'll have a good recommendation for you.

Give Joe Gallagher a call. I think he's high rod on the Sky this year as far as the guides go. Check him out at:
www.washingtonsteelhead.com

The Skys just coming back into shape after a high water (the first of the spring). If it continues to drop, fishing should be pretty good for the rest of the season. Keep in mind, the river closes at the end of this month. Not much time left. The river reopens for summer-runs on June 1.

Good Luck!

Yup, the river should be dialed in really soon, if not already! Look for us on the Sky this weekend. We'll be in the shiny black Thor Boat. Saukit2em has the boat on "loan" from Thor for a while. Hopefully, he'll settle up with the insurance company and get a new boat ordered soon!

Yup, it sure was punched this weekend. My buddy and I were out poking around Saturday. Mostly just out playing in a new truck. Charts are looking good for those who can get out midweek though. Dropping like a rock...
