I'd like some information ont tribal netting
practices. I'm familiar with the Boldt decision and all that but I recently had to
reschedule a planned river trip as the reports indicated few fish in the Sol Duc due
to nettting. Is there any way one can ascertain ahead of time when the nets are going in? Also, is there any way to predict
when they will have their alloted 50% of fish
so that one could schedule fishing trips after that date? Thanks in advance for any
light you can shed on this.

Hey Connie,
I'm sorry I don't have any of the netting schedule's. This readership has posted the specific's on several occaision's, though. Potter (what's up Potter, I miss your most insightfull view's. Vacation?) know's the when's/where's usually on the coast. My thought though, is don't let poor reports, or net's stop you from trying your luck. That is unless it's a big money guided trip, which can be postponed. The ratio of fish/fisherperson's play's a huge role in an individual's success. A crummy season in general can bring the ratio into a diehard's favor. The C&R season this year on the Sky is a good example, slow in March and it's like only a handful of people fishing all April. Have some fun!

Humpie, I'm still here. Been busy wraping up the fishing season. I agree with you about not letting the nets stop you from fishing. Like I said before, I fish behind nets year around and catch plenty of fish. As far as fishing schedules I only know from Queets south to Chehalis, except for the Chehalis tribal fishery.

Thanks you guys. I have my own little 12' Lavro and fish the Sky but am not real familiar with the Sol Duc so I was, in fact,
going with a guide. I guess I'll just go for it, as you say, and see what comes of it.
(Hopefully, a nice springer!).
