funny you would say that, thats exactly what came to mind when i thought about it (Megalodon)... maybe its not really extinct like they think.. i suppose it could be a 25 foot Great White, but those are extremely rare, if ever seen.. although, a few years ago off the coast of Australia a 10 footer was bitten in half nearly by what they say was a 20+ foot "monster shark"... noone saw that shark either, just the one that had chunks out of it...
ill see if i can find the article..

Orca.
It bit the shark exactly where the tag was inserted; and swallowed the tag. After 8 days, the tag came out the other end of the orca, and floated ashore. Yes, orca can kill and eat white sharks. Do a google search. Nothing out of the ordinary.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

There is a show on Nat Geo or something about Orcas preying on Great Whites. Apparently one pod does it a fair amount. They'll ram into a GW and then flip them upside down and hold them. The GW goes into a catatonic state and drowns.
Then they get eaten.
Then all the other Great Whites in the area clear the fu.ck out.
It's a cool program - you should watch it. KK - you can just picture it in your head.

that was my second guess SM, Megalodon just sounds cool to think about still possibly existing
deffinately wasnt a Shark that did it their body temps are nowhere near that, a Orca cant "that we think" dive that deep, that we know of, and their body temps are 97-100 F, which would put it in range with the water temperature of the deep offsetting it a bit...
Sperm Whales tho, can dive to almost 10k feet, and could easily swallow a GW, they get to something like 50 feet, so a 9 foot GW would look like a cut plug to it... i just cant find its body temperature, but being a mammal, its probably dead in that range...
the Sperm Whale is the king of the ocean, that we know of, for now
edit: the Sperm Whales temp is around 91 degrees, with water temps at 50 or 60 at certian depths, it would be dead in the range of 78 degrees... good guess SM

That was in the islands offshore of the Golden Gate bridge, fascinating program.

Again, it was an orca.
The tag senses pressure changes, which normally indicates water depth. But if the tag is indigested, it will experience the pressures associated with moving thru the orca's digestive system. Thus, it gives a false reading of 19000 feet, or whatever. The tag never went that deep. It just went thru an orca.
The temperature changes are also consistent with an orca.

Agree. No mystery.
Orca.

There are two problems with your theory:
Ocra body temperatures are 97°-100°.
PSI at 1,900 feet (580m) is over 800.
Without doing any research, I would think it's unlikely that the digestive tract of an orca, or any large mammal, is 800 psi.
"Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. $10,000 for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing."
