Isn't one of the key points of a CONTRACT the fact you can avoid the potential hassle of renegotiation until the contract ends? This seems like a real bitch move. Perhaps lawyer money could be spent on speech therapy that would result in more endorsements and therefore more money?

Stop freakin'.

Lest we forget, contracts are considerably less binding for professional athletes and the like than for we common folk....

While his contract goes for two more years, all indications point to this being Lynch's last year with the Seahawks. He knows this. He's doing what any other athlete in his position would do. We don't have to like it, but unless we think the Seahawks can win another Super Bowl this year without him (I DON'T), we have to accept it for what it is.

I think they'll find a way to work it out, but they do need to be careful about how they do it. If they just say OK and cut him a check, that would set a dangerous precedent, and if they give him the finger, Lynch may just prove to be the first player crazy enough to leave the money left on his contract on the table, go home, and "chill." I suspect they'll strike a balance that makes both sides happy.

Interesting that the you would consider that the player should have to honor the contract as signed but mention nothing about the fact that the team can cut the player at any given time.

The main reason he may want to renegotiate this contract because he and his agent are smart enough to see that he will not be with the Hawks after the 2014 season on this contract since they have to start clearing cap space for Wilson and have already stated they are going to a running back by committee.

Lynch made our offensive line look good with his "yards after first contact", not sure how our 2 youngsters will fare.
