I fish with marabou jigs tipped with maggots.
Would tipping my jigs with shrimp work well for lake erie tribs? Thankyou for you help.

Try ipping the jig with a salad shrimp or a small piece of prawn. Hey it may work over there, It works here.
Ok Im letting out a little secrect of mine. Take a brown and Orange jig. Add a piece of crayfish tall to it. Hold on to your rod because summer steelhead cant resist this...... Now I will start kicking myself for letting that out.

Shrimp work great for our Great lakes steelies. Trust me. The crawfish tails also work well. Make sure you go small with it. A great fall/winter steelie rig. Another thing that works really good on cold water fish is squid tentacles. You can get either one of these in the seafood section of your grocery store. This works good on our fish also.

Well, since the Steelies over in the Great Lakes are from the same strain of steelies over here, I'd say it would work. I've used the combo for awhile (except I've used sandshrimp tails instead of crawfish) and have had alot of success. Go for it, doesn't hurt to try, just hurts if you don't fish at all.....

Cray fish tails....I have never tried. That is because I have ever seen them for sale in my local markets. Is there a location for buying these other than catching them from a stream or lake?

Catch them, as you fish and use them fresh. Some bait tackle stores carry crayfish tais. I personally think fresh is the way to go. easist wayto get them is find a smaller wadeable stream, Jump in a start turning over rocks. Use an aquarium net to snatch the pinching little buggers.
P.S. They are also mighty tastey!!!
