If it on the outside you would be only to see the 2 edges that stick up. The rest would be under and not visible.

Thinking, outside, so the "ends" would show, would be the "show way to go"

Inside would always be covered, for the most part, by the foam tubing.

Bottom line, they are functional at a good price.
