Picture when all those blue collar workers, that Clinton is counting on the votes from in the 9 swing states, as they see this ad during the football games this weekend and realize that they can stop the corrupt political establishment that threw them under the bus 30 years ago by bravely standing up for themselves and refuse to consent to their servitude and oppression by refusing to vote for Crooked Hillary.

Perhaps I live in a fantasy world but I believe that if someone ran for President as a more or less social liberal and more or less fiscal conservative that they would crush the far ends of the Bell Curve.

+ infinity. The winning recipe is actually pretty simple when you think about it. Too bad about Citizens United and special interests that pull too hard to either side. A candidate as you describe would get eaten alive in this political climate and that's unfortunate for us.

It is. The other sad thing is that the real power lies in the Congress and Legislatures. All the effort on Pres and Gov rather than the folks who are supposed to do the work.

Unfortunately there are just too many uniformed, uneducated knuckleheads out there and just keeps getting worse. The less you know, the more radical you become. The suckers that joined ISIS are a great example. They fell into the trap and now thousands are finding out it's a scam. And, once you're in the pit it's a bitch to get out.

Losing the popular vote by more than a quarter million and eeking out an Electoral College victory with less than 300 constitutes a landslide nowadays... huh?

Actually 4Salt, when you account for 3rd party and the illegal vote in CA & FLA, she didn't win the popular vote. Also, the popular vote is also not fully tallied at the moment with 14M votes to still count. With those votes factored in, CNN has declared Trump the PV winner - look it up. He also got 306 EC votes. That's around a 10 pt swing (+/-) from what everyone thought would happen. Add in the house, senate and gov races that went red. That kinda is a landslide is it not?
Still, half the country is really pissed off and that is not a good thing. If it went the other way, the other half would be pissed. That's what happens when the 2 most unpopular candidates of all time run. We have to move off this spot. That's why I voted SMOD. To avoid all of this. At least we could have all died together.

What illegal vote in CA and FL Nick? Why does the 3rd party vote only take away from Trump? CNN did NOT certify Trump winning the popular vote. On the contrary, They too are saying that Hillary will win that with probably MORE than the current quarter million vote lead she has now.
When I think of landslide I think of: Nixon / McGovern in '72, Reagan / Mondale in '84, Clinton / Dole in '96. THOSE were landslides.
As far as the congressional races went, they were pretty much a wash as few seats changed hands.
Hank - Ginsberg or Breyer are gonna have to kick off first before Trump can change the makeup of the court, and I think they'd stay as long as possible just to spite him. The Dems have enough votes in the Senate to filibuster any nominee he might get to put up and probably will as repayment for the Repubs blocking Obama's choice to fill Scalia's seat.

Not all went to Hillary. I'm sure some also went to Trump. CA does not require an ID to vote, so it's a near certainty that some illegals did get to vote. Regardless, we find ourselves at this point in time and need to move on together....

4S - I didn't call it a landslide. I was kinda asking you the question of what your definition of a LS is (with maybe a bit innuendo just for fun)? I think he'll end up with 306 (cant it right check now), but maybe it'll be less. I do agree that w/o the PV there is no true "mandate". Either way, here we find ourselves. Super deal yo!

How does filling one conservative seat with another conservative change the makeup of the Court Hank? If anything, it keeps the status quo. And like I said, a liberal justice is going to have to retire or die before the current makeup is actually changed.
Dems can still use the standing Fillibuster as well. All they need to do is wind up one of the junior senators, order the pizza and bring in the cots again. The last successful one only took 15 hours.

Maybe the conservatives should give the liberals a break, after all they lost and are feeling down, and we all know that they would have been kind and understanding if they had won, well wouldn't they have?

The makeup of the current court won't change with a conservative replacement for Scalia. It's been pretty much 4 to 4 with Kennedy as the swing vote. There definitely are some aging Justices that could go in the next 4 years... but I wouldn't count my chickens before they hatch.
