For your first trip down the satsop, I would
put in at the forks, where the river come to gether. And take out at the highway bridge. This is a real simple and easy drift.
Good luck, STRIKE ZONE

The fish that are in there are way up high, fished the S curves Tuesday and played with a ton o' dogs but that was it. Only one silver jack. A friend fished the lower end of the river Tues AM and they caught 2 silvers but they were both pretty old, they released both of them.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

I have been wanting to get down the Satsop also, and it sound like the water is still low. I like to float rather that drag. How far are the S curves from Schaefer St. Park.?What is the water like? It sounds like the drift from the park to the highway bridge is fairly long...any ideas. I know you can get in easy at the park, it is just a matter of how much water you have under your boat.

By the way, can you walk into the S curves to take look at them for river hazards, any other places to be aware of? Any info will help, I am not looking to steal any spots, I just like to know what I am floating. Thanks!

Launched at the park last Friday,we floated in our Cats to below cook creek.
If you take a drift boat plan on getting out at 5 times before the "s" curves,it's not that far but it was ugly, should be lots of Dawgy's though, good luck
OH yeh there was one log jamb just above Decker creek( between the park and the curves stay to the right

I think that the only thing that could get me to walk into the S turns would be the chance to see someone who has never been there, go through in a drift boat. My first experience was without having scouted it and I almost crapped my pants as I came down the slot.
Oh well, once I got through the snagger maze fishing was fantastic. Good luck, low water and distempered bankies are the only hazards.
