CNN has just called the race between Cantwell and Gorton and has declared Cantwell a victor. Cantwell isnt the greatest but the worst possible senator this state could have is out.

We all know how everyone feels about this but it seems as though its a good day for salmon and steelhead of the Northwest.

On the other hand, Idaho just put a real horses ass named Butch Otter in office... This guy is the worse case for Salmon and steelhead. He replaces Helen Chenowith, and I thought it could not get worse.. I was wrong. This guy has a herd of cows in his back pocket and a chainsaw in his hand

I doubt that Gorton gave up yet. There is only 4000 votes between them and a million absentee votes in this stat alone to count yet. They'll be recopunting and digging ballots out of the basement to get him elected.

The media may have just learned an important statistics lesson. When a race is close, you need a larger sample size to predict the outcome. When a race is as close as Gorton/Cantwell and Bush/Gore, you need nearly 100% sample size to make an accurate prediction.

So many of us won't know whether to raise a glass in celebration or sorrow for a while, yet.

Isn't that the truth!
Kind of makes me wonder if early mistaken winner declarations by the media could effect voter turnout or voting choices in areas where the polls are still open.
