Hello all,
I'm new to this board and wish some advice.
I'm likely moving to the Pacific Northwest (Oregon) from Nevada soon and am planning on outfitting my 17 foot Lund for Salmon fishing mainly in the mouths of rivers, up until shallows may play an issue.

I've got my eye on the Gloomis 9ft Salmon rod and I already own two Penn 965 international reels with 30#power pro line.

Any rod/ reel suggestions? I'm generally a g.loomis fan and already have a couple of their steelhead rods.

I would appreciate your input.

Thanks,

Kurt

If you want some quality rods without having to mortgage your home and your firstborn, go with Lamiglas.

Kurt,

I think it depends on style as to what type of rod/reel combo you use. In Tillamook, I tend to fish spinners or kwikfish in the bay and use an 8 foot gl3 with my trusty old ambassador spooled with 25lb maxima ultra green. Works well for both. If I'm in the herring fishing mode I tend to go with a 7 foot rod, again with 25lb mainline. I tend to run 40lb leaders because of teeth. Hopefully this helps.
