I used that money to buy an apartment building. The money from rents is more than the money from the disbursements from my 401K would have been. The mortgage is locked in at a low rate. The property keeps gaining in value and I can still claim depreciation on my taxes. There isn't any rent control there, so I can raise the rent every year if I want to. The demand for housing in this state keeps getting higher.
