When did the corruption start? Will it ever end?
The corruption has been here since the beginning. It will never get voted out because they control counting the ballots. Their big city machines are so slick, they can often win even with without fraud but if they happen to be losing, King County will just "find" another box full of ballots. It will never get talked out either. This is a criminal crime syndicate, you will not get them out by voting, talking or posting on the internet. Trafficking in poached wildlife is the tip of the iceberg, but they buyers of the poached fish are large politically connected criminal organizations that are involved in much worse. The only way to end the corruption is that the people get so sick of it, that they go en masse down to the bad people's houses that are doing the bad things, drag them out of their houses and hang them from the nearest tree while they kick, scream, froth at the mouth while sh!ting their $2000 suits. Then leave them hanging there as a warning to others. Anything else, including posting in this thread is just masturbation and will have no effect, except unlike this thread at least with masturbation you will have a little something in your hand when you are done.

And fortunately we have Steeleworldwide to help us out with the true MALT LIQUOR meaning of words here at PP. And yes, Salmo occasionally suffers that Old Timer's Disease, often called CRS (can't remember sh!t). Don't blame this on being old, when you were younger, you still didn't know sh!t but that didn't stop you from pontificating on stuff either.

If the accused were outside their U&A can a tribe with U&A for that area allow persons not belonging to that tribe to crab within their U&A?
Another observation is that it took this situation to reveal the outcome under the Tulalip legal system. It is unfortunate that the Tulalips withheld that information from the General Public insofar as crab illegally caught in their Tribe’s U?A by the Hatches were not reported to the tribe and not counted against the Tulalip’s quota. That means they stole from all of us!
So where is NOAA/NMFS on this issue under the Lacey Act?
Finally, I sincerely hope Pierce County votes in a new prosecutor. And I also suggest failure by all County prosecutors to pursue fish and wildlife be a cause to change their thinking or be replaced and that goes for the State.

U&A used to the only place where members of a given federally recognized Tribe could fish as "Indians". To fish outside of U&A, as an Indian, required the invitation of the Tribe having U&A there. Happened all the time, way back when, on the Skagit because it made management easier and protected spawning fish better.
The kicker is that some Indians had non-Indian commercial licenses. As I recall, they could fish in a non-Indian opening but their catch was counted against the Indian share. I think this most often occurred in Fraser sockeye fisheries. This may have changed since I was in the wringer.

Holy Smoke! I just want a benign or benevolent leader to step forward and lead! Steeleworldwide, you'd be an interesting guy to have a beer with, I think. Like you, I don't appreciate nit-pickers, but what the heck. Let's get to work on the problems.
I looked at the draft agenda for the Orca conference in Puyallup tomorrow. Looks to me like the idiots are setting the agenda as to what their long term agenda is for the whales, and not what will work the most expediently and provide REAL results as early as possible.

Without food, they die. It's simple. But, it is politically impossible to provide fish for them to eat in the short term. We have had 20 years of fixing habitat. It is a glacially slow process that is not producing more fish. But it makes good theater to get folks behind habitat, moving boats away, making the boats quieter, etc.

AS STATE FISH & WILDLIFE ACCUSES PIERCE CO. PROSECUTOR OF ACCEPTING TRIBAL BRIBES, TULALIP FISHERMEN FILE FEDERAL CIVIL RIGHTS SUIT AGAINST THE DEPARTMENT’S DIRECTOR AND OFFICERS
Over Last 48 Hours, State-Tribal Treaty Fishing Rights Tensions Rise With Lawsuit, and King 5 Story Regarding DFW Agent Accusations Against Local Prosecutor and Tribes
Seattle, WA – On Monday, two Tulalip Indian fisherman and their spouses filed a federal civil rights lawsuit in King County Superior Court against the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) and thirteen of its officers and agents, including DFW’s immediate past and current Directors, alleging that since 2015, they “have levied a full-fledged assault against Plaintiffs under the guise of a ‘criminal investigation,’ when in fact Defendants' intent was, and remains, to attack Indian Treaty fishing and destroy intra-tribal and inter-tribal Treaty fish distribution and commerce.”

Bet this doesn’t even make it to a preliminary hearing. It will be hushed up and a big settlement paid to the poachers, public apologies and compensations made.
Business as usual...
