Unfortinately The river that I fish on is not a tailwater, so it does freeze over. We just got a recent cold snap, but most of the holes are still open. I have fished these holes with some friends and have used everything under the sun. Does anybody have any tips for this situation? thanks :-)

sounds like the timing is bad. When have you been hitting the water?
Directly after a rain is good, wait for the water to clear.
Are you fishing a heavily pressured area?
If so go earlier than everyone else, or use diferent techniques, spoons, spinners.
Are you fishing when the run is slow?

You might try a jig under a float, possible tipped with a small peice of prawn. Been knocking them dead this week on a pink/white Rainbow jig tipped with prawn!
