I made that same decision wrt Amazon. My offers weren't upper management but I still wanted to avoid 100+ hours a week.

During my interview with my current employer they actually said, "we don't want you working more than 8 hrs a day. We insist on a work/life balance." In return they get happy employees who aren't too burned out to do good work.
