I have been reel fishing salmon in Autumn and Winter in Washington and B.C. rivers for a few years, but I would like to expand to summer river fishing for steelhead and salmon. The problem is, I am completely ignorant of how and where to begin doing this:

WHAT: Are there summer (July/August) salmon runs in Washington or south B.C. rivers, or just steelhead?

WHERE: What are some top rivers and specific spots along them for summer stealhead and salmon (if any) runs in the Puget Sound area?

HOW: What gear is best? Is reel fishing possible, or are flys recommended for steelhead? I am not a good fly fisherman, so I am hoping a reel setup is possible.

Also, is boat fishing a must for summer steelhead (and salmon, if they are out there) or is bank fishing an option?

Thanks! Any pointers, links, or advice would be greatly appreciated!
