30 pounds. Nuff said. When you fish elbow to elbow rivers, you can't afford to leave your spot. I have 4 days worth of stuff in my vest. What's funny, is that it's about 8 to 10 pounds lighter than it was 5 years ago. Maybe I can even get smarter with age.

Becuase of some back problems, I no longer wear a vest while steelheading. I carry a fanny pack just large enough to carry a box of spoons and an assortment of jigs and floats. I find that at the end of a long day pounding the river, my shoulders and neck are much less fatigued than when I wore the vest. I also could not believe how much junk I carried in that vest.

I retired the vest 5 years ago and went to a large fanny pack,my vest at the time was around 25lbs my back and neck could not handle a long day on the river, The Fanny Pack is perfect ,I wrap it around the oar towers on my cat,so it's right there, all the extra BS goes in a small backpac or the drybox, sometimes we carry way too much stuff,I try to go though my pac at least every couple fishing trips. Tight lines and sore backs...Os

My vest weighs about 10 pounds less than my wifes purse !!!! I am astonished every time I see her root around in that thing!!!.. Actually, the only time we really ever get too far from the boats we are fly fishing in which case I also have found a fanny pack to be the best set up. They hold a lot of stuff and are easy to dig around in

Not sure on exact weight, but my vest is a floater style. It adds 35 pounds of floation when deployed. I once filled up the air bladder and stuck it in the bath tub. Needless to say it sank. So I think it weighs too much.

I don't know how much it weighs, but I'm with Billy Bob, my wifes been nagging me for a year to wash it but it would take too long to take out all the goodies in there; extra reel, beads, corkies, duct tape etc...

snippers, scissors, pliers, pen, lighter, yarn, bobbers, jigs, split shot, pencil lead, tubing, gear box with corkies and hooks and swivels, scent, rubber worms, worm hooks, 6 spools of leader from 6 to 12 lbs, a box of spinners and another with spoons, extra jig heads, a bait knife, camera, and a partridge in a pear tree...
sheesh! no wonder I like to fly fish!

Isnt it funny what you find after looking in a pocket that you forgot even existed. Old candy bars, 4 year old shrimp oil, and a whole bunch of other half decomposed garbage.lol I'd say my vest weighs a good 15-20 lbs, and close to 100 when wet. hehe

It all depends on how much garbage left by other guys you pack out. Everyone's should weigh more on the way out than on the way in if ther's a bunch of crap from previous angler's laying around. God, I wish I had A dollar for every sand shrimp container that came out in this fly chuckers vest!

I'm not sure what mine weighs, but my good buddy Bart calls it an anti-floataion device!
