I'm considering going to Kalama this Sunday. As it is a long drive, I'd love some GENERAL advice on where to fish. This will be my 1st attempt at Steelhead, so keep that in mind if it matters. Thanks for any help.

Fish beginers hole the hatchery creek is right next to it. Or ask for advice at the store. Do a little exploring in the Canyon you might surprise yourself. Use eggs on a bobber and fish it about a foot off the bottom. Let us know how you did. Good luck.

dont be discouraged if you dont come home with a fish! I just started hitting the Kalama hard this past summer. I learned alot but it took me 10 or more trips to hook my first out of that river. Go EARLY if you are fishing the beginners hole. I dont know about now, but if the fish are in it will be crowded. If you get lost look for Pritchards store. Its on the left about halfway up the river.

I'm a long time kalama fisherman and the road follows the road river for most of the river. if you see s parking space along the road its a fishing spot, beware of the fly fishing water only, the spots are marked in the regs. if you want to plan a guided trip to learn more on the river give Rob Orzel a call 1(360)673-3557 he's one of the best Guides out there, he knows the Kalama the best
