Dwatkins do you have a pontoon? That would be the way to go I bet,fun in those intertidal areas. I fish down my a lot in december for coastal lagoon stripers in my pontoon(I have 2) with a trolling motor. I'm gonna fly fish with an old fenwick 8 wt this winter and clouser minnows.

maybe that dan guy knows how you really are. maybe you have a history of snagging or flossing fish. Anyway, you answered my original question...is evo "always picking fights here?" i guess the answer was yes.

Yes for me half the battle are finding them. Once you do that really anything you have confidence will work.

Try using super small Colorado blades on Coho, they can be real deadly. A board member showed me this years ago. I caught a real nice 12ish native Coho yesterday about 60 yards from the breakers...impressive fight.

This time of year I have a hard time fishing stripers when there are salmon and steelhead to be had. I'm busy making money this month but in a couple weeks I'm gonna head up north again. Had a great fall so far,my last trip I landed a [Bleeeeep!]-ton of fish,all on little cleos. Adult salmon,jacks,half pounders and about 30 adult steelhead. Hopefully up river will be fruitful. It's been a slow start down in California so far. I know many of you think all our fish are dinks or they live in ditches. Keep thinking that

over the last 8 years or so, spoons have kinda taken over for me in a way...

ive been using spoons and spinners my whole fishing life (36 years) but not to the extent that i have been...

basically what ive been doing, is covering about 400 yards of water, walk back up, start again, working my way down each cast...

helps to know where they sit in some areas...

alot of these fish are being hooked within 2-5 cranks on the reel...

had one about a week and a half ago, hit right at the beach, HARD, rolled twice, hook came out, took a 2/5 ouncer right to the dick...

hurt like a son of a bitch...

Cleos catch fish. So do fstrrvrs. I wish I could buy fstrvre spoons in 1/4 and 1/3 ounce,copper red. I would spend a weeks pay for them.

any of them in that style works... ive caught fish with RVR's, Pen Tac's, Cleos, P-Line spoons, ect....

i do use Blue Fox's but i prefer spoons honestly... they cut the air better casting, and you can also cast up stream with them and get them to work, where as Fox's have a tough time getting the blade turning when going head first with the current....






i just realized i spend way too much money on fishing gear... the rod and reel in these pictures Katie uses... i use an XMG50 10'6 6-12 as a spoon rod, and a G1000 Pro X96JS for a general purpose rod... bobber rod is a Northfork 11'3 8-17...

thats not to mention the tons of other crap that doesnt get used much smh...

like the 2nd Saros and Stradic CI4 that are brand new sitting on the table....

Nate I have a horrible tackle addiction. Some of my backup steelhead rods are Edge rods . I just bought a stradic c3000 and I have another one I havent used,but I plan on building a couple technique specific spinning rods for stripers/steelhead so they will have a home. I told my friend to pick up my cabelas tackle bag a week ago and he told he I was insane. Weighs a good hundred pounds

I used to like you fuggers, but after seeing those coffee grinders I might have to do some un-friending.

Me too, as soon as the water clears I start throwing spoons and spinners.
Lately I've been able to see fish roll and throw a #3 mj blue fox or a 2/5 spoon right in there face and they fvckin crush it on the drop.

Solid gold, gold and orange or a chartreuse and nickel little Cleo always gets the job done.

I use gold, silver, mainly, rarely copper but it works just as good in some cases...

1/3 a lot of the time as well...

The blue/ white glow spoons are interesting as well..... Have a few myself....

Oh and all hooks get changed out to Gami big river siwash hooks....

Won't use anything else...
