The forecast for the Kelso/Longview area was for heavy rain the next day or two. Better check again closer to when you're going. It could be blown out.

If it's fishable, just follow the Kalama River Road from I-5. It parallels the river for several miles. There are lots of spots to pull over and fish. Also, check in at Pritchard's store about 3 miles up from I-5 on the left. They'll have the latest information on what's hot and tell you specifically where to go. Any specific information you get now won't do you any good on the 29th, particuarly after a heavy rain. Good luck.

Catcher1--A friend and I fished the Kalama all day yesterday, Thursday. Water was low for winter flow. We had one strike & caught a dime bright winter run hen about 8 pounds. Of about 6 boats we talked with, one had a fish. I'd consider this a very slow day with the amount of pressure on the river. It rained off and on all day and the river is probably on the rise today. I'd also suggest calling Prichards Western Anglers for a river report before heading to the Kalama. I heard the canyon was producing better than the lower river. Good luck!

Well fish master that sounds like your problem not mine. If you think I'm pulling your chain why don't ya call mahaffeys(ask for bill) or talk to the bio chris and ask him how many fish they've seen BK and Scott yank out of there. Or ask Harvey of ripsomelips! Just because you fools cant catch em' doesn't mean there not there. All the regulars are hit em'! All the fuzzybutts wonder where they are. For instance 3 boats past us wednesday below begginers, they went right over the fish and anchored right on top of them. We pulled in behind them and banged 2. So I'm sorry if ya cant hook any fish on the Kalama, guess I'm givin false reports! Anyways call Bill at mahaffeys ask him how many fish BK and Scott have punched scince turkey day 360-673-7466. Robbie, harvey, bill, and us have been kill em'. See ya at the boat launch with a full fish box!

No worries BK, keep killing them, because it is true 10% of the fisherman catch 90% of the fish. I floated the EF on tuesday and had 4 boats pass us, when we got to the ramp the plunkers said one boat had one fish and one released two summer runs. We ended up hooking 4 winterfish and landed 2, then we also turned a 30+ lb chinook loose (dark SOB) but all was fun. I love competition and could care less how many people are on a river cause the fish are here and will take a beating when I'm on the river!!!!!
Keep killing them... By the way we are thinking of having a derby on christmas day, maybe we should have it on the kalama any takers???? $10 per person, we could do most fish or total pounds but all fish have to be winterfish.

I'd be all for a little x-mass derby. Ya pritchards does a good job of marketing, notice how the fish are always biting shrimp in the canyon.....funny cause I've been usin' eggs down low. And your right a few extra people may be down there in the bottom end now thanks to me. But I can't stand a guy call my report BS so bring it on, my boat gets launched at 4:30 and I glowball the hatchery until its light enough or I see a boat goin' down. Anyways see ya down there!

also funny how every time I call the pritchards hotline "the river is in great shape" I think they dub that sentence into every report. :-)

Make the road trip Hohwaiian and you may be surprised, us young bucks have had shady times and smaller #'s of fish to learn to fish on so me are much sharper. Now there are #'s of fish so our sharp skills kill'em. Remember if you aren't fishing top-dog eggs you aren't competition!!!!
MAYBE UP THE ANTE???

Braggarts have absolutely no class at all!!! It sure is nice to hear from poeple who don't like to constantly blow their own horn! By the way, competetive fishing is for inbred southern rednecks fishing for 4 pound bass with 25 pound line! All of the best fishermen I know don't brag at all, they don't have to.

just because someone brags doesn't mean they don't actually follow through with their statements. I brag occasionally, but that doesn't mean I don't know how to catch fish. I'm by no means "the best" there is, but really who is. If you say its you then who's really doing the bragging. Let them brag if they want, it sure is more fun than b*tching about it.
