I see Hank isn't progressive enough for this place anymore.
You guys are off target at the moment taking all your frustrations out on poor conservatives like Hank while at the same time your own people are sneaking up on you from behind ready to slit your throats.
Why don't you people take your frustrations out on real threats like Bobby Ferguson and Jay Inslee. People who are a real threat to this state and the people who reside within it.

In order to go down the hill, one would like to think the place was up the hill at some point. The Darkside has never been up any hill at any point.
If I could BanHammer those two morons, I would have been all over that ions ago. Trust me.

I'm not too sure it's fair to equate hippies with bug flingers. I mean come on, even hippies have some morals and standards!
I resemble this remark. Semi-pro one-handed bug tosser who at one point tried being a grungy, dirty hippie (hey it was the 90's maaannn!). They wouldn't have me and I'm pretty sure it was the morals and standards part which tripped me up.
So f'em and the dirty feet they rode in on. The Dead suck balls anyway.
On a side note Todd, I do hope Starbucks prints Jesus on their holiday cups this year. The Old Testament Jesus "of black skin and woolen hair". Yeah that one. The collective meltdown would be glorious and enough to drop heating oil prices all winter.

I won't be looking but some here brag to buddies who brag to buddies. Seems odd to claim something that one failed at. I guess it's better to try and fail than to not try.

You're so after the fact and late to the party Nick. The 90s were totally post-hippy. After failing bug-tossing in the early 60s, I matriculated to genuine (but not genuinely dangerous - see other thread) hippydom, complete with faux Afro and post-adolescent facial hair. If you think the Dead suck, then you didn't drop enough acid. I eventually failed at hippydom too, due to an aversion to dirt, but compensated by graduating to competent bug-tossing. It's a good life I guess, since I don't know any other.

Ask Ken Kesey what he thinks of the hippies. They had it good before all those dirty patchouli wearing hippies took over . I'm glad I came up when Judas Priest Iron Maiden and Celtic Frost were the flavor of the day. I was high as a kite on some decent blotter acid when Halford rode out on his Harley on stage,to thunderous applause and the sounds of Killing Machine(Hell Bent for Leather) blasting from Marshall stacks.
Before Motorhead ,Lemmy was in a band called Hawkwind, and one night he was so wasted on speed and lsd they had to prop him up on an amp and strap his bass to him. He could't see the audience . That's my kind of sh!t,although I have my share of acid rock lps from the 60s and early 70s. I'm more of a Stones guy than Quicksilver Messenger Service or Janice Joplin.

You old coot! Not the original 60's hippies...the extremely lame ones in the 90's. I didn't try very hard, because hey...they were the lame 90's hippies. And no...I didn't drop very much acid. Some acid, but not enough to be considered into 90's hippiedom. Why listen to the Dead when you had Soundgarden?

"Why listen to the Dead when you had Soundgarden?"
There you go, getting all intelligent on us now. OK, I'll confess, I'm not a Dead Head, but I can listen to them. Actually saw what's left of them last June at the Gorge, and had a pretty good time, considering we were drug free.
What really shocks me is Avid's post. I have zero interest in metal, which seems like Avid's true love, but to think he and I both appreciate the Stones, QMS, and Joplin is something I never would have guessed.
Avid, go to YouTube and put in Japanese metal funny and watch the first video. I saw maiden when they came to Tacoma a month or so ago. Those guys still got it.

My first two concerts, 1982 the summer after I turned 12 years old...Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, back to back weekends. Bruce and Rob can both rip it out still.
Rumor has it that they are touring together in 2020.

I swear Bruce still has so much energy, it's crazy. He was running and jumping over gaps in the stage. If they tour together in 2020, whatever I got going on that day can wait.

This place is going downhill partially because wankster was banned. He supplied an endless amount of easy subject material every time he posted. Why would anyone want to get rid of that?

Would it shock you to know I'm a huge fan of Miles Davis,Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Felu Kuti? My musical tastes may be the most varied of anyone I know. Yeah Heavy Metal was the music of my youth, and I did just re-purchase Death-Leprosy,and Krokus and Accept on Vinyl. I also got the Cure,Bauhaus, and the Bay City Rollers

To quote Frank Zappa " Music is the best."
+1. I'm all over the board as well. My mixes leave people like "how the fvck you gonna play Public Enemy and then some Jackson Browne?" Yeah well......here's some Mussorgsky too.
Good music is good music. It's individual, but we each know it when we hear it,

Avid, I only recognize half the names in your last post. But no, it doesn't shock me. Like Nick says, music is individual. I'm partial to the music of my youth, that being selections from the 60s and early 70s, minus the bubble gummer sh!t, etc. But I also like stuff from that contemporary catalog generally labeled as "adult alternative." My Pandora channels currently have John Hyatt, Grateful Dead, Bob Marley, Clapton, Jerry Garcia-David Grisman, Jayhawks, Bonnie Raitt, Indigo Girls, Tom Petty, and some others my wife added.

I hear that "word" and a starry, blacking numbness overcomes me. It literally shuts my brain down like a verbal EMP.
So let's practice and put it into some sentences...
"Evo's mad at mom again. She made him practice his "adulting" today and finally forced him to clean his room."
"Extremesteelhead is getting pretty good at this "adulting" thing. He/Him can even reheat his own chicken tendies in the boomer invented microwave all by his big-boy self. The squeeze ketchup bottle is still giving him a little bit of trouble, but he'll grow into his paws."

I would say the 70s surpass the 60s in terms of quality and quantity of stellar bands making good music. But I find music I like from all decades and genres , so perhaps there was never a "golden era" of music.

Bonamassa is a great player, but he doesn't really grab my attention for some reason. I guess he is to some like a modern day version of the late great Gary Moore but IMO while he is good,he doesn't have that "it" factor for me.
I once saw Kenny Wayne Shepherd live . What a yawn fest.
No reason in particular for me posting this song here,I just figured most of you would hate it. Taste is subjective. I can recognize talent when I see it. And Bonamassa has loads of talent. These guys have SOME talent lol

Occasionally, but my fishing beer preference is all Rainier, all the time.
Got kicked out of a bar at happy hour in Pioneer Square last Thursday when they told me the Rainier tall boy I just took a sip of cost me $7.50. Ended up leaving it on the bar and not paying for it.
I suggest skipping Cowgirls Saloon, even if they have a mechanical bull and girls in short denim shorts and tied up flannel shirts dance on the bar.

I too once got kicked out of Cowgirls. Who knew that ONLY the chicks in the Daisy Dukes were allowed to get on the bar and dance? They say to "dance like nobody is watching", but it turns out that everyone was watching. I get the point they were trying to make. I wouldn't want to watch me dance either.
