The solution doesn’t seem all that hard to me. A few ports where illegal aliens can become documented aliens. It has to be easy and predictable and remove any incentive to attempt an illegal entry. If you’re caught crossing the border at night you’re shot. If your caught crossing the border during the day you are shot. If you’re a family with kids, or just some dude who would rather work than gangbang, just cross at an authorized port. You may spend a few months in a refugee camp being vetted but you’d be on a bus heading to your new job soon enough. And once documented you can go home for Christmas once picking season ends. See next year.

in America, if you put your child in danger, like making them travel through the country alone, or cross a river alone, you would be punished and your kid would be taken by CPS, happens every single day for far less...

why is it any different for people trying to sneak into this country?

BTW, the executive order Trump just signed was intended as a short-
term solution to the parents/kids separation issue. It's still up to
Congress to get off their collective asses and negotiate/pass new
immigration laws and policies.

GD, Yes it is a crime and it has been a crime for a very, very long time. I do believe in secure borders and I believe in compassion. Two things that are not incompatible with each other. I agree that Congress needs to act and while we wait, I don't want to make a bad situation worse by continuing this policy of separation. But, more to the point, this Administration has shown a cynical attitude towards families who are illegally crossing. This has everything to do with Trump trying to fulfill his campaign promise of the wall. Never mind that his promise was explicit, Mexico would pay for the wall. Now, he so desperately wants to fulfill this promise that he is willing to use young children as chips in his poker game. It is cynical, it is craven, and its disgusting. Your attempt at diversion is the same.

The other thing that I see here is even more disturbing. Trump is like the volunteer fire fighter that sets an arson fire so that he can be the "hero" in putting it out. That is exactly what he has done with this policy. We rightly describe that fire fighter as having a mental illness and sentence them to get help or to jail. I am beginning to believe that we need to do the same with this guy.

Basic Gubmint 101. Immigration law is the responsibility of Congress. They have failed, period. The President can fiddle around within the law, direct through policy how things can be done, but it is the Congress that has to write law.

A major problem is that neither party will work with the other. look at the House now. They won't bring anything forward unless there are sufficient R votes to pass it. Are they afraid (both sides) that bipartisan middle ground solution will leave the bat-[Bleeeeep!] crazies on both Far Sides out in the cold?

A simple fact overlooked by those here on the Darkside that are too busy being down on their hands and knees gargling Tump's balls.
