When they send a sheet around your work asking who is and isn’t essential, don’t say you aren’t essential because you want some time off. Yesterday all these people where I work said they weren’t essential, send me home, signed the sheet, today they are backpedaling faster than Lance Armstrong. Be smart people, don’t get excited to not work and claim you aren’t important or you just might end up sick and unemployed.

Sadly, this is the type of time to remain a rockstar at work if you can.

Socialism in the US isn't for people, it's for corporations.

The airlines, oil and gas, hospitality, casinos, industrial farmers...we have plenty of tax dollars to redistribute to them.

It's only bad if we use it for health care, utilities, rent, mortgages, infrastructure.

Aside from the Feds pumping the actual markets, everyone needs to remember that these "bailout" monies are not free handouts. Their interest bearing loans. The Fed actually made money back after the 2008 crisis.

Everyone is going to need a bailout. Citizens, small businesses, corporations and entire market & industry sectors. Certain industries and corporations are too big to fail as they provide critical infra and services (transportation, energy, food, health etc.).

Again, this is going to cost trillions upon trillions of dollars. Unfortunately, casinos are somewhere on the list. Unless you want to permanently shut down Vegas forever. Casinos provide all of the jobs in that town and there is no reason to even have a Las Vegas without the casinos.

This is uncharted territory and the Feds will be damned if they do and damned if they don't. So what do you do?

Statistically I'm in a vulnerable group, but my mom is 95, diabetic, and not in great health. If she gets the virus, she almost certainly dies. So I have to go out and shop and run errands for her. Otherwise, I'm "working" from home, as usual in a social distancing and shelter in place mode. My main concern is being able to buy gas so I can go fishing. Fly fishing, by its very nature, is a practice in social distancing.

Also...if the airlines hadn't used all their money to buy back all their stocks to line their pockets after the received a berzillion dollar tax giveaway from Trump, they wouldn't be out of money now.

Shockingly...the execs paid themselves billions, and the public is paying tax dollars to the companies they raided.

Obviously, it won't help with that. I filed a month ago. It will help a LOT of others though and it should provide extra IRS bandwidth in case they do disbursements. I don't know.

At least they're actually thinking of helping main street - which in and of itself is a major hurdle with this admin.

This virus sitch is really starting to suck and it is exasperated by stupid fuking greedy assholes. I had hoped for some better news since my March 1 self-isolation started but no such luck. Looks like the food gathering will continue to get harder.

The local markets, while getting deliveries every day, are getting hammered by these greedy hoarders. I scheduled Safeway delivery and it's a 6 day wait. I still have some food and beer to hold us over but if this is going to be routine until mid summer, I might lose it.

To any hoarders out there. STOP IT! You're creating a bigger mess than necessary.

There's a big difference between buying a week or two worth of groceries and clearing out entire shelves of TP or canned goods . If people shopped like they normally do then things would be much better.
