Just the money ramifications alone for the NBA is staggering. I'm sure MLB is next? Although, most Baseball is played outside.

It's not the outside part. It's the travel that comes with the sport. Airplanes, airports, locker rooms, hotels, gyms, training tables, luggage handling, buses, cars, eating on the road, press conferences and then they get to the actual close quarters physical contact inherent in all sports.

If we can somehow even get that 10% down to just 1% that's about 700K patients. There are 300K total hospital beds in America at this moment. The death rate is holding at 3 - 3.4% worldwide. At 75 million Americans, that's 2.15 million dead. At 150 million, that's 5.1 million dead. Germany announced today that they expect 70%+ of their population to get sick. In America, that would be 260 million with a death rate of 3.4 = 8.8 million dead and the need for 2.6 million hospitals beds. Again, there's 300K of those. The Mariner's won't be playing because SafeCo will be a triage center + Century Link + Key Arena + Tacoma Dome.

At this very moment, they are in full, 24/7 WWI and WWII style medical triage. They are literally forehead marking PILES of the sick with sharpies on who gets to live and who gets to die. If you are over 50, they pretty much aren't even giving you medical attention or a doctors exam any longer (you get the dreaded black X). There will be 10's of thousands dead in Italy in 2 weeks.

Nick, I keep hearing about how smokers may be at increased risk to complications from COVID. I wonder if it is the withdrawals added on top of the disease of if it is the clogged up lungs.

I remember my 2-3 pack a day grandma (lived to 94 and was wishing to go for most of that last 10) trying to quit and having terrible rashes and fever and headaches. Seems like that could really mess you up on top of a novel disease.

Also reminds of how they used to keep liquor in hospitals because people literally died from withdrawals. Maybe get so nicotine patches in case you get your lungs swamped.
