I'm looking into joining a fly fishing club. I need to make some fishing friends and broaden my knowlege on fly fishing. I live in Puyallup so I'm looking for something near by. I belive the South Sound Fly Fishers are near by (Tacoma?). I will look for some at the Puyallup Sportsmen Show, I remember the SSFF from last year. Are there any others? Does anybody belong to one? Any recomendations?

Interesting you want to JOIN a club. Why not start your own board?

huh I want to join an existing club that has monthly meetings and trips. This way I get to meet other people. Are we talking about the same thing?

I think what he's trying to say is that this is your BEST chance to meet and fish with other people. Why waste the money to join a club (unless they have a purpose you want to join in on like political/conservation which you can easily do on your own or with friends of these boards). You can get all that and more here on these type of boards. But, you can set up your own board and start your own club and get what you're looking for. I've never joined a club, but have done my part locally. Some clubs are pretty stuffy. So, one reason I've opted not to join, though I've had been offered and sat in on their meetings. I think you'd be better served either hitting these boards for partners.

I tried to get a few people off the board to go out chum fishing last November but it never happend. If people are interested, we should try to have some sort of get togeather or two this year. Any suggestions?

Steelheader69: I have already planned on trying to go to an outing on WFF. We (this board) should start doing stuff too.

Actually, I frequent a couple other boards mostly anymore. And we have gettogethers quite often. Actually, the best ones are "hookups" (excuse the pun) with just a couple. You get too many working a slot and it's a living hell. Best thing to do is start a small base of friends you talk to the most and build up from there. Hard to get alot together unless you directly start a planned event, not just asking about doing one. That's your best bet.

HI guys
I am on another board too, mostly I lurk around here. I think that the problem with get-togethers is that everybody has a different agenda. Some guys are there to catch fish, some are there to meet others and some are there to get drunk, most are there for a percentage of the three. But I am always down to fish with anyone, weekend excursions to prime rivers are always fun, and the more the merrier. I am a member of TU, but have never attended a meeting, I dont even have enough time to fish as much as I want, let alone go to meetings about fishing, but I support their causes financially and spiritually if nothing else. Drop me a line sometime if you find yourself in the North Sound area and want to hit up a river or two

food for thought.
When I started fly fishing I didn't know anyone who fished let alone someone who fly fished. I fished completely alone for seven years. I loved it. Now you may laugh but you should spend no less time and effort in finding A fishing partner than you did finding your wife. I love my wife and I love fly fishing and I don't want anyone mucking up the works. I met A man and his son quite by accident and we have fished together for two years now. It has been great but I still enjoy those times when I am the only for miles.

Fishin' junky,
The wife and I are moving to the Chehalis - Centralia area in a few short months. I'd be glad to hook up with you for a fishin' trip, with drift boat in tow. I used to own and operate a fly shop and guide service as well a pro tyer for many moons. Since I will be a newcomer to Wa. it would be nice to fish with someone that knows the area a bit...chat with you later. Kevin theperfectjig.com

I might just have to take you up on that offer. I've been trying the zip Skookumchuck. That's a nice little river near Chehalis but I haven't seen a fish yet. Still hopeing though.

Oh, and please dont's kill me for talking about the not so zipper river. :p
