Dang....! competition and I thought I would have this one. Nicely done, Bent Rod. 40 years, 3 months, 11 days, 5 hours and 16 minutes as of now, same door of the same building every day, every day...every day. I figure I have another 5 years or thereabout's in me, but I'll be too young to retire...maybe I join the fishing guide army next, chickenrancher? Gigalo? Moderator? Hell, maybe I have ten more years, still like work, good at it, making money and the kids these days can't keep up. That ain't workin'.. that's the way we do it.

Will be 34 years for me in October. My plan original plan was to hang it up in Feb of 2022, so 19 months from now. Boss has been asking what it would take to stick it out longer. That would have to be every Friday off and only go into the office a couple days a week if that. I’m digging this working from home routine and drinking beer with lunch everyday.
If he agrees to that, I’d only be working half the year goes as far as number of days worked when I factor in vacation, sick days, holidays and such. Might be worth it just for the medical insurance until I hit 65. Still up in the air as you can’t buy more time..... SF

I used to be able to pull that off but no longer...unless it's an ass cold day on the river then the beer doesn't clobber me. If I manage to retire in the next 3 or 4 years, I will still probably pick up a 3 month contract each year to supplement my 401ks etc.

I found that drinking beer at 6 in the morning was taking it's toll on me,so I just kept drinking round the clock. This Friday it will have been 25 years since I had one of those.

One ice cold beer with a sandwich or whatever I’m having for lunch hits the mark for me. Very refreshing....... I’ve also walked over 350 miles since I’ve been working from home so the carbs aren’t killing my weight . SF

I’ve been working here around our home for the last 10 years , at the most time consuming, busy -est and most satisfying time of my life,
Retirement !
This , after about 30 years as an Engineering Computing IT mgr at Boeing.
Although my wife and I retired a few years early and at the same time, if we had to do it all over again ?
We’e both have retired earlier. Life is short, make it sweet.......

Well...sort of. I'm currently an IT / PM / Engineering / M&A / do-it-all consultant and my client is hiring me on full time in a sr. mgmt position in an area that I've never directly managed before, but know a lot about. So...sort of. BUT....I'll no longer be a feast or famine consultant and get to play FTE. Which is huge when you are planning a family at my age. I need consistency and dependability more than anything. The killer bump in pay and vaca never hurts either. Life is really, really good these days. I've been through a lot in my past, so I have to remind myself to enjoy the good times and to stop looking over my shoulder for the bad times.

I don’t envy being management though lol.

Little shy of two years on my current gig...I like it, and plan on sticking here for a good long while. I manage the Downtown Seattle portfolio for a mid-sized commercial real estate company, including a handful of historic 100+ year old buildings in Pioneer Square and the Central Business District. Sitting in one of them now Fish on... Todd

I'm on year 26.
Over 30 if you include the years I was an undergrad and not a FTE. I guess that means I'm now 27+ I'm an IT Director for a large environmental college at a University in the State of Washington. I am not on a pension plan....although I have maxed my contribution to a match 401K for the last 27+ years. Looking forward to retiring. In 13 years or so.
