Apple Blossom was crazy in the 80's when I was a teenager. As a young kid in the 70's I remember when the H.E.'s would thunder into town, as they would stay at a camp near Rock Island next to the Highway. It has ebbed n flowed through the 90's (some wild times with girls even then too).
Chelan would get crazy on Memorial Day too. I remember when the cops literally lost all control, 88 or 89? I guess the same thing happened at A.B. too, then they started changing the cruising directions, etc. But, when phuktards start shooting people, something has to happen unfortunately. Several of us should have went to jail in Chelan one year, at Campbell's as we were part of a brawl. Talked our way outa that chit show, '97 I think. I was fully prepared for a ride to the crossbar but the cop let our side go. We jumped in my boat and bailed back to the house after that.
I never made the Tri Cities boat races but I always wanted to! I heard those were insane. Good buddy got into it with Hanauer one night, traded a couple of punches, supposedly over (his) a woman? It's a great story from what I can remember! I couldn't do it justice anymore. I'll have to get him to tell me again, I've heard it from 2 different people, so pretty sure it's legit. Glad I lived through those times! Did some dumb chit, and thankfully nobody else got hurt!

Lots of legit comments here. Grew up in Oly and rented a room in the Gov House for the weekend every year during Lakefair. Parade side of course. Roommates in college were all from Ephrata. We hit all the festivals hard and tore it up. Never went to jail? Chit I can't say that.
Rainbow valley was chitty. Lol

Great topic WDFW.
Local we had Viking Fest, Kingston 4th, Whaling Days, & Chief Seattle Days. Always Seafair Hydro and Blue Angels.
When I was in college I went to Waterbust, Apple Blossom, and Tri Cities show us your [Bleeeeep!] a couple of times.

Brett, EWU and the Hagy Clan by chance? I never said I didn't go to jail, just not on those specific weekends! Cinco De Mayo at the UW/Greek Row was pretty stoopid in the early 90's ,but that was just a local event. I always wanted to go to End Fest in the mid-late 90's, but it was right around the last weekend in August to fish before Dove/Grouse season if I remember right?

I went in Pullman.
Slough, Lovitt, Dehouge, Burke, Peterson were a few of the Ephrata names.

The strawberry festival in Marysville was good.
They shut down the town and had go-cart races on the city streets, it was a long course, it went all over town.
The were also tricycle races.
You got a tricycle and a local tribal member, he would ride the tricycle from tavern to tavern and slam down a beer or two. Again, it was a long course.
First one to the finish line won.
The tricycle race was phased out 40+ years ago for some reason.

I used to take the kids to that in the 90s. We'd pick strawberries when the strawberry field was still in the flats south of town and the kids would eat one for every 5 they put in the basket. I guess we owe Beringer a couple bucks. Those were seriously the best strawberries I ever ate. And the kids would ride trikes in the parade and all but no booze involved at that time...except for a beer I'd pour into my coffee mug.
