I have a small gerber pocket knife. It stands out as I found it on Eagle creek in Oregon about 30 years ago. First time I fished with my now brother-in-law. We hooked 5 or 6 in three hours ( hooked two in the first 10 minutes), and he complained the whole time about how the river was high and it was so slow. About every three or four years I find it somewhere then lose it again in my junk. Brings back good memories every time.
One day in the 1980s I was lake fishing when I hooked a stray line. Pulled it all in and lo and behold, on the other end of the line was a near new bass rod with a new looking Abu Ultra mag 2 reel.
After I cleaned it up and lubed it I ended up catching lots pf steelhats and coho on it (the reel, not the rod). At the time it became my fave steelhead reel for a while because compared to my Abu 5600Cs, this thing was all modern and shitt and could cast light stuff far.

I win the internets on the daily. Does that count?
I also found a freshly dead body in downtown Seattle once, which was a nice and pleasant experience. "Fresh" as in still kinda actively dying (agonal breathing stage). Tried CPR, but it was too late. I gave the poor sod back to the State though, because oddly enough, the State frowns upon "finders keepers" laws when it comes to dead bodies.
Yeah...wonderful topic Jussie. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to make a phone call to my therapist.

I was fishing in Colorado, saw an old tiny cave in the hill with smoke stains, found an obsidian axe head after digging for 5 seconds with a stick.
Was fishing a river, found a mortar (as in mortar and pestle) that is ancient made from the same rock that was all over the river. It’s a fancy one with embellishments along the side and a grip.
Never won a thing.

I won the first and only "Gettin' Jiggy With It" NCAA Tournament contest, right here on PP, a few years back. All I had to do was tie a couple jigs for the prize pool, then draw Louisville as my champion. Prize was a nice haul! Still fishing some of the jigs, using some of the tackle, and wearing some of the swag.
I'm sure I've won or found other stuff over the years, but I can't think of anything noteworthy.
Looks like I'm not alone in winning something from PP. I guess it stands to reason that if you enter a contest pool with 20 participants, you've always got a solid chance of winning!

I forgot...I once won an OK Corral style old western gun fight with the treacherous Black Bart at Casa Bonita. I was like 10 years old and easily had the fastest six shooter in the west that day. Ol' villainous Bart then met his final demise by cliff diving into the depths below never to be seen again (or until the next show at 10 past the hour)
My reward? One free sopapilla n' honey and a chitty plastic Sheriff's badge. I AM THE LAW! WOOHOO!
PS: For those wondering, Casa Bonita isn't just a South Park joke, it's very very real and very very amazingly fun while being simultaneously awful. Horrible food, but that's besides the point. It's the perfect place to get utterly shitfaced with your friends before hitting strip clubs.

Last week, walking out in the dark, I came across a huge, glow in the dark, fungus growing on a tree stump. It was bright enough to see from quite a distance. Never have seen something like it before in the Northwest. Always something new to "find" or see in the n orthwest.

Did you get a picture? Was it an orangish glow or a light green glow? How big - what did it look like - where?
This is important. We wouldn't want Rich's wife poisoned again.

I won a Savage 30-06 with a Bushnell 3x9 scope at an Elks Club raffle once. Long time ago back in Michigan at college. Out of the box, that cheap Savage was the most accurate little son of gun around. Crazy accurate - hot or cold. Especially for a $350 rifle with scope included (in 1995 dollars). It was HELL on those Michigan Whitetails for 3 seasons. Farm permit = 50 deer. 2,3,4,5 deer a day....whatever. Toss another in the back of the truck and let's go get breakfast. I personally fed many people during college - there was always more than enough to go around.
That little sniper Savage was a beast. Traded it off for a much nicer .280 Ackley Elk stick once I moved back to CO. Poked a dandy 5x5 with that Ackley, so it's all good. I honestly don't know where that Ackley is now. It's somewhere back in CO. Sister probably has it in a closet. Whatever.

When evo finds a job and Rich finds a clue this thread will gain some traction.
Until then... I found a fresh, loaded, scoped .30-06 Remington 7600 pump gun wrapped in plastic and stashed under some tree bark deep into an area that hunting is not allowed, and a 12 weight green fly line floating in a back eddy figuring there would be a big ol' steelhead on it that somebody had busted off..things went the other way as I pulled the line in and out of the depths came a 975.00 dollar 12 weight GLoomis Greased Line spey rod with a 500.00 dollar reel on it. Won a St Charles Pathfinder takedown recurve at a TBW banquette back in the olden days signed by Glenn himself and I still have it. Big winterkill bulls are my favorite finds.
Also, when young.. I found a job, a few years later... I also found a clue.

That was a stupid question, even if only directed at Evo.
One can never have enough guns. My problem is that I don't have enough large gun safes or built in gun rooms to store any more guns. That's put a damper on my firearms business. That and the stupid fvcking laws in our state makes the trading/buying/selling firearms a real biatch.
I won an Alien Putter back in 1990. Only thing I've won directly from the InterWebz, minus the multi-billions long lost relatives keep offering me.
Back in the hay day, I kept a running spreadsheet of my accumulated internet wealth from all of the spam emails I received. I stopped playing the game when my worth exceeded 100 million and showed no signs of slowing down.
I'm sure some of you here now are doing this exact thing except with all the "Get laid" type emails.

Also I hugged Ice T once at a show. He tried to pull me up onto the stage later when he and his band Body Count were playing but by then the crowd was way too unruly for him to grab my hand and pull me up.
Earlier that evening I got my nose busted by some dumbfvck who had waffle stomper boots on and was trying to walk on people. He kicked me in the face. My friend Paul saw me coming out of the pit with blood all over my face and he just put his arm up and gave me devil horns. That was a moment in my life I will remember, blood and all.
In those days you could get wild and crazy and stage dive and whatever and they let it go on. Now when you see a show there's a fkn cell screen in your face. I still try and immerse myself in the moment.

In 1990 I won a 1990 Upperdeck baseball card set on a local television show out of olympia called "talking baseball" .
In 1996 I found $500 dollars cash outside a gas station in a mud puddle, I went next door to Allstar lanes in SIlverdale and bought some pull tabs and won $300 after spending 5 bucks of the money I found in the mud puddle.

I once beat my friends Dan and Eric at Omaha one time by being a calling station while they slow played full houses on each other with a flop and turn of 2 queens and some rag cards, while I held pocket aces. River was an ace,I got the Nuts unless one of those jabronis has quad queens which I know they don't because they are transparent when they bet.
So on the river, one checks, one bets I call the other raises, the other goes all in. I call. My buddy Dan raises, thinking he has the bigger full house, but he keeps asking "did you river an ace? Why would you call if you had aces? " His leg bouncing like a pogo stick as I go all in,which by now he's pot committed, and Eric knows he's done for. Dan has to call my bet, which puts him all in,I think the pot ended up being like 230 bucks or something. He calls. I win.
And for the next 5 minutes it was awful quiet...lol I bought him a late night breakfast to ease his pain.
The moral of that story is if you have a hand, unless you are Doyle Brunson you had better protect that sh!t !!

Here's my trick. Very early in the game, bet big on a junk hand that you KNOW you are going to lose. Show your cards and play dumb. Then, once everyone at the table thinks you don't know what you are doing, play tight and sit on your big hands. You'll get callers and raisers and then you drop the hammer on em'. I've been not invited back to play at several places. Not my fault a sucker is born every minute. Rope a dope bitches.

I used to be deep into traditional archery, years ago (late 80's early 90's) went to a local 3d shoot and they had set up a competition novelty "running deer" on a cable, you'd pay 5 buck for three shots as they ran it past the firing line, I was just a second level shooter but occasionally competing with the big deal guys on scores, anyway..I hit the kill zone with my first arrow on the first pass to advance to round two, maybe 25 guys out of a few hundred had advanced over the afternoon, round two came and it was the same deal, first arrow kill and I walked into the final round with about 5 others guys, all were real shooters from all over the place, got a beer or three in me to calm my nerves for the final round, and put my third arrow dead nutts perfect into the kill like a boss for the win, it was kinda a big deal at the time...to me anyway. Won a custom longbow that a local bowyer had donated, was cool that I won that contest and bow with one of the bows that he had made. That was a good bow and I still have it, even killed a running 4 point bull with it that year.
Oh, my next door neighbor was throwing away a dusty old 12 speed bike with flat tires. I saw it at the curb and asked if I could have it. He said sure.
So I cleaned it up and rode this really nice bike for a couple years and finally did some research on it. It turned out to a Miyata racing bike worth about $700....used.
I had moved away by then so never was able to thank him.

Yeah that won't work on good card players. Mreyns and I were the last hand at a friendly game we were all playing when he tried doing some weird sh!t and I ended up losing just due to not getting the cards. But I will be glad to play you,Nick, now that you told everyone your secrets

are you talking about Cedar River Bowmen range up towards the Sammamish Plateau? they had the same thing, i won it a couple times... Bow-nanza was the name of the 3d shoot and was the largest in the state at that time... i was a kid at that time, but won the youth tournaments several times.. my dad and uncle kicked ass on the adult side, as well as Bob and Wally Sherrard, Merv, Jay, ect..
my dad was on the board of directors there so we always had to go and do setup and takedown on the range both bail side and 3D side in the trails..
they also used to stick a Polar Bear up on the bail range where the deer was at, at about 60-80 yards and did the same thing, closest to the red dot in the kill zone won... i won that once...
if its the same range, which im assuming it is, you were there when i was there, and were likely competing against my dad, not so much my uncle as he was pretty much target compound.. he still shoots for Hoyt and won the nationals for the senior class in 2012 i think it was...
i still have the Martin Little John i used in the tournaments, as well as the Browning recurves...
might have to take the Blackhawk out to my buddies and shoot it, been a little while...

my dad didnt really [Bleeeeep!] with the deer much...
and not many people beat him, at one point he was ranked 3rd in the nation...
my uncle used to own an archery shop up north..
that was back in the days of overdraws and super short arrows... Merv was running a custom High Country cam bow (when cams literaly were just an idea) and pulling 120 pounds on the scale... his bow speeds were over 350 FPS in the late 80s early 90s... which is unheard of even with most bows today...
i still have my dads Hoyt Pro Hunter, but before he died one of my asshole friends dry fired it and blew up the cable system, its not a cam bow just a fast wheel bow.. think the limbs are alright, but i dont think im gonna do anything with it... ive seen bows blow up and its not pretty...

no its because limbs/risers can crack after dry firing a bow...
you ever see a bow explode?
my uncle had a custom Hoyt Pro target that blew up on the first shot, top section of the riser exploded and landed at his feet... was a slick metallic blue riser with white limbs, nice bow...
still have the Martin Tiger here as well... Fineline sights, overdraws, couple Bitzenburgers...
i suppose i could have my uncle put it all back in order, but like i said, could be cracked and i dont want to mess with it and have something happen... plus the technology today far surpasses what was in the 80s and 90s...

Never paid much nevermind to the wheel/sight/trigger crowd.
Dave Eatmon, Dan Croft, Jerry Webster, Tim Wallis...
I've seen them do some things.....
ive met them.. i think Dan lives down by me now from what i heard a while back... maybe he goes into Skookum, will have to see...
Cecil the one that built my dads bow, died a few weeks after i talked to him, which was the first time in 25+ years... needed a new string for the Blackhawk as its the original from the 90s, still shoots fine, just want a new one...
ill see if i can find Dan or call up Skookum and see if i can get on there...

This fake Evo account while Evo is active is a weird one. Wonder what ever happened to Offdahook. I'd have to say he might have ruffled the most feathers I've ever seen as a troll on fishing forums.
The only thing I learned by this thread is that evo knows lots and lots of people. Lots. I guess I would too if I just hung out at walmart all day instead of working at my place of employment and earning my own living.

Sure, fatso.
Ever killed an animal with your bow? A real one? Tell a story that didn't happen when your dad dragged your fat, snotty ass to the range.
You dropped names to try to make your insignificant ass seem important. Nobody cares who you shot with. Nobody ever cares about the people you claim to know when you're dropping names all over the dark side.
What's mom making for beddy time snacks tonight?

Some good verbal jousting last night. And I decided to work on a bid until late, silly me!..."Evo Light", that's good chit right there! The "Evo Imposter" has some talent for regurgitation; as his last diatribe regarding "dinner" was spot-on "Evo-liscious"! Definitely gaining momentum....

So many prizes won and cool or interesting things found. And Evo strives for celebrity by association. Again. Some things never change. Some people accomplish things. Evo knows damn near everyone who accomplishes things. I must admit, I never woulda' guessed that Evo has a closet full of bows though.

Oh wait, you were talking about archery skills. All I know is that once owned a fiberglass re-cure bow in HS. Was fun a fvck to shoot and I harassed the crap out pheasants and Clorox bottles.
Never saw Tim shoot, but I did see his handy work. Anyone that makes their own fvcking bows and arrows get's the hats off by me!
That stupid SOB was one talented MOFO.
Yeah he was, I spent a week bow hunting with him. He was a great shot and one driven dude.. Had a blast that week with him.

Won a custom longbow that a local bowyer had donated, was cool that I won that contest and bow with one of the bows that he had made. That was a good bow and I still have it, even killed a running 4 point bull with it that year.
are you talking about Cedar River Bowmen range up towards the Sammamish Plateau? they had the same thing, i won it a couple times...
I got a $50 I'd out shoot ya, you pick the distance....

Pretty accurate is not the same as extremely accurate.
I'd almost wager that Keith's reloading room is worth more than your entire firearms collection. I say "almost" knowing that one can easily dump 5K in to a stock rifle and scope without batting an eye.
The dude is an insane shooter. He complains about a 6" group at a 1,000 yards on a 10" steel clanger......
You should just email Keith his money now and just stick to internet shooting competitions.
But hey, if it's any incentive, I'll toss in $100 if you can out shoot Keith.
An no, Archer, you don't be getting my hundo when you put serve up a helping of humble pie to Evo.

Sorry, but the Elparquito Production Company had to put the fight on hold due to COVID. It has been postponed until a later date - TBD.
In the meantime, this should give Evo and Breezy ample time to jiggle the fat rolls and flex the pecks around here.

i can hit golf balls with it at 300, so thats pretty accurate to me...
i may be buying one of Katies dads bench rifles in about a month and a half or so, he came in second behind Steve Kostanich a few times i guess, so the rifle does the part... her dad is also a pretty good shot as well.. the rifle in question will shoot .21 inch groups at 300 yards consitently... chambered in 6BR... hes got another in in 6PPC as well... not sure if i can afford the rifles and scopes tho, his scopes are Leupold fixed that are like 38X (upped magnification) and are quite expensive i guess..
whatever, ill decide when he comes up...
maybe we should keep it fun, and keep things fair and use .22 rifles.. that way its factory ammo, no advantage, run what you brung...
im actually going to have Shaen (Sticks friend), rebarell by 700 .223 here eventually, was going to ship it down to him but the COVID sh!t fvcked everything up...
basically what i have learned, is if Stick recommends you someone, go with that someone... so im gonna go with him, just need to ship it to Cali...
guy does awesome work, seems like a really cool guy as well (only talked to him on the phone)..

im sure you have a stock rifle around, or, like i said, we can run .22 LR's, my Ruger RPRR is stock, .22 ammo is all factory (unless you have figured out how to reload it), and its challenging shooting .22 at distance...
its whatevs, up to you... sounds fun, and challenging, so im game either way...

I'm gonna start rooting for Evo. All this place does is try and out wit each other. It's always been the most homoerotic chat forum of all time, but now it's different. So many people wanted to be Big Stick, Stam, that dude that from either Nevada or California who's son would wear socks like a native. Salaman or what have you. Coley. Now it's just competition's that Evo would probasbly win because he's so wound up and has autism.

I don't have a 22LR, long been a fan of the 22 Mag... But she's a tack driver too with the factory ammo. Heck even picked up a .17 WSM that's impressed me at the 100 yard mark... Makes quite the murder scene on the sage rats...

I can post a photo or 2 of the high end steelhead rod I built for swinging spoons on the Klamath in the fall. NFC 6-12 HM blank,Custom handle, black widow rear carbon fiber tube(I had to pay a pretty penny for it),an alps MVT Toray reel seat,Alps aluminum oxide butt cap,no foregrip, and Fuji Torzite guides,Torzite Fuji Arowana tip top. Spiral wrapped. Maybe that will cheer you up.

It's funny how the audience gets to barking... Evo's a good dude, followed him on here for many years holding his ground on the dark side, it's all to often he get's his leg gnawed on. I appreciate his confidence, but as he stated factory loads vs hand loads isn't fair.
But hey, thanks for following along...

I don't think for a second he could win a shoot out, I'm just hoping he could. He gets real big for his big britches and for all the wrong reasons. I can tell every last one of you in a 100 meter draw with a new gun and irons I'd send all of you to the bunk. Would be fun to shoot.

I wonder how married life is treating Twitch??? Probably got 6 kids by now.
Anyone who is a good long range shooter has a spot to shoot. The problem is they don't want a bunch of city boys using it and getting them run out. Shooting spots are more secret than fishing spots these days.
You Faa King 206ers should just keep shooting your boyfriend's 10 ring and stay the Fuukk up North.
I was hunting a few years back, an in the middle of the clear cut I was walking through I came across a large target. It lined up prefectly with the back yard of a home down in the valley. I got out of there but it did make me think about how easy it would be to walk into the firing path without knowing it.

Heading back out this weekend for some more long range precision and load development on a friends new 28 Nosler. It's the right gun, but the challenges of magnum caliber load development.... Time will tell.
Got the right weather and the wind forecast is nil, so hoping to stretch to 1100 yards with a few of the guns we'll have there ready to roll.

Perfect day for shooting or hot rods.
Did the final load testing this weekend on the 6.5-284 at 968 yards downhill at -7.4 degree angle with a left to right wind at about 5mph. Ballistic app called for 21.2MOA up and 2.0MOA left.. I've concluded, she's ready... Can in pic for reference...
