I know a lot of you are built like adonis, some like Adorable Adrian Adonis(he was a fat wrestler in the 80s). I am approaching 50. I'm fat,out of shape, diabetic, just went to the dr and it appears my health isn't as bad as I thought and it could be much better. So tonight I walked, ran, walked ran,and walked, and ran. It felt pretty damn good. I am gonna try and lose 30 pounds.

I will never end up like war paint ,but hey we all have our flaws as humans. I have no idea why I'm even posting this.

Lose 30lbs find a mid 30's girl and catch lots of fish and you'll be good, Barker.

I am very thankful to be in good health. So many people aren't whether its their choice or not. Schit can go south really fast whether you're a health nut or a slob so enjoy what ya got!

Avid,
The main thing is to keep moving and get regular exercise, walking, running whatever. Just keep active....
I see a ton of dudes my age that walk with a shuffle and move like sloths.
Once you lose that ability to move around it’s pretty much over except for couch duty.

You're on the right track, avoid the gym unless you're playing co-ed volleyball or something equally interesting, go outside, be outside, look for ways to make it harder rather than easier, go where other people won't and don't, you'll live longer and you won't see other people... the people you do see will mistake you for Adonis.

I exercised this weekend by reeling up about 500 pounds of halibut and lingcod from 500 feet down in moderate seas.

Reeling them up was no big deal, electric reels and all...but jigging a 3 pound pipe jib on a pool cue rod for 10 hours will kick your ass.

I try to work out regularly, but fail a lot of the time...thankfully most of my hobbies and activities put me outside and moving around.

I'm going to agree with Bent on this one...I have found that keeping a few hot chicks around that are much younger than me has been a far better motivator to keep fit than anything any doctor has ever told me wink

Fish on...

This.
Something I can agree with illashe on.

Watch that sodium intake too arvid.
I've cut my sodium intake by more than half. Lost 5lbs of water retention in 1 week.

Do or think about yoga. Stretches to get the acid out and go from there. Amy other answer is wrong. Stretch everything.

Motivation is a huge factor. Todd and I might not agree on everything, but atleast we figured out how to age without feeling old.... rofl

If you're trying to find a keeper you have to love yourself first. Especially with young independent chicks. There's no advise to getting laid that is going to come from these dud3s.

If you have a bunch of insecurities.

I'd say from your last comment that you should not be giving anyone advice about chicks, of any age...at least not me. Maybe it's good advice for other insecure dudes.

I don't "target" any chicks, young or otherwise...the ones I know are the ones I know, and they are all intellectually sound, emotionally solid, very attractive, and they know all three of those things.

That's my demographic right there, age isn't important to me...I just happen to know a few younger ones in the 30-35 year old range that fit that bill.

Agree, but differ on the list placement. If you throw the right girl into the equation everything is way better and easier, the wrong one and yeah, it sucks.

Having a family, job and hobbies definitely cuts into my ability to workout. I still aim for pushups and sit-ups and a quick 1-2 mile run every day. Rowing the rivers and walking the banks every so often helps as well. Every so often I run to the park to play pickup basketball with the younger guys... and I can keep up with them surprisingly. Not bad for being 35.

What also helps is that I married younger and she keeps me on my toes. She works out every day and stays in excellent shape. Better shape than me which serves as great motivation.

I am in good health and grateful for it, partly genetics and partly lifestyle. I don't overeat, I am light with the sugar but don't avoid it, drink 1 to 3 beers per day, mostly eat healthy food. The thing with me its my weight does not change, I am always in a 5 pound range no matter what, since I was 20 years old.

I get lots of exercise, I walk allot just around my property every day most of the time over 5 miles per day, and all kinds of other labor type work.

I have no health problems, no pains or injury other than a bit of arthritis in my hands and my back goes out once in a while.

Weight is the biggest factor, if you can not get obese you will generally stay in fairly good shape... if you are 30lbs overweight you are gonna have problems, that is way too much extra to be carrying around. It pretty much comes down to self respect if you are fat.

Being "healthy" is not enough. I have had a couple friends about my age, both serious runners who took care of them selves. One simply keeled over from a heart attack. The other developed some sort a arythmeia that required surgery and while there an aortic aneurysm blew. Another guy, active swimmer and hiker and in really good shape found one of his coronary arteries badly backed and needed a stent. Worked well. All three would have passed for "healthy" and taking care of themselves and the ticker still went wonky.

Cardiomegaly or Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Dollars to doughnuts that they developed Cardiomegaly specifically because they were serious runners. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy is usually genetic, but if you have the gene for it and are a serious runner, your odds substantially increase. There is such a thing as "over running" and some of the least physically sound people are runners. Sure, they can run for a long distance and are perceived as "fit", but that often comes with a long term price to your heart, hips, knees, ankles and feet.

Good to hear Rich's "Fiscal" (physical) health is up to par.

lotta luck involved for sure, I have always lived so that I can be ready for anything I may encounter in a physical way, I don't want to be the best at anything just better than average at everything. That being the case my body naturally stays in the same state so that I am ready because my mind keeps it there, everything else falls into place naturally because I have trained myself.

Some people think the stuff I say is worth hearing.. I spent 9 hours with a film crew yesterday and they got 5 hours of footage, they came to my house from another near by state. The film will not be out until nest summer.

In a couple weeks I a major cable TV network is going to meet me at at Elk camp to interview me for content.

So some people wanna hear what I got to say.

Just one quick thing to add.
People buy nice exercise equipment then get old, fat, lazy etc and don’t use it.
There is a ton of it you can pick up off of Offer Up or Nextdoor for cheap or free.
I got a pretty nice threadmill for free.
It sucks compared to walking outside, but when the weather is [Bleeeeep!] it works well. Throwing some good tunes on makes the 45 minute to and hour walk on the thing go by pretty quickly.
