when im spoon fishing the section of water i do, i can park on the bank right next to the river... so i park in the middle of the area i fish, walk up, start casting, working my way down all the way...

sure, i lose spoons and have to walk 400+ yards back to the car to re tie...

I've seen bears during every month of the year on the West slopes of the Cascades in Wa, FWIW. On the Peninsula, late January on also.

Eastside of the Cascades is different, but we don't have any steelhead to fish for anymore North of the Dry-chitties that is.

there are bears down here near Orting... there was bear sh!t all over the beach multiple times this year in another spot i fished with my buddy...

seen bobcats as well...

one year about 12 years ago i was by myself walking the dike up the Carbon, came around a gate and there was a Coyote standing about 6 feet away in the brush snapping and growling... i pulled out my knife and kicked at it and it bolted..

that was when i didnt have a CPL so i wasnt carrying...

but i started to even without a CPL because of the RCW exemption....

ive also had peoples pit bulls run up on me growling, those have almost gotten shot a few times...

the peninsula ive ran into bears and cougars, tho not very many times...

i like low holing flossers with spoons...

they get PISSED...
