been seeing a lot of eagles lately, so figured i would haul another 15 pound backpack down with me... oh and i brought 5 rods today as well...

I feel like there was probably a lot of artwork and memorabilia of blad eagles, tigers and maybe dolphins in your home growing up. That's sickkk. There's a few around here, especially when the smelt return. Anyone ever known anyone that killed a bald eagle? I bet it happens all the time.

I don't like Barrier Dam

We had a buddy who was infatuated with rocks that he'd find when we'd be bank maggots. He was always looking down in the water as he was re-baiting, and sure enough, you'd see him elbow-to-arm deep eventually, scrounging up a "pretty rock" from the bottom of the river. He'd rub up it and examine it..and if passed the mustard he'd place it in the back of his vest. The joke got to be, that whenever we'd take a break and sit for a minute, someone would slip a rock or 2 into the back of his vest as well. It never failed though that once the rock dried out, it lost its luster and then when he'd get back to the pickup he'd go through his "rock collection" and toss them all out, but always wonder where all the "extra rocks" came from! Plus his vest weighed probably "60#"!

only hooked 1 that day, was too busy taking pictures, water has been high, was around 1700 that day and i like it at 7-800.. its dropping quick with the cold tho, at 1200 now, should be close to 1100 or 1k by tomorrow..

it was actually 2 birds, they were fighting, but i was using that fixed 300MM tele lens and its a bitch to track and try to find them when you cant zoom in and out.. there was a 3rd sitting in a tree that we were taking pictures of, i hooked the fish, then look back and the 2 were screaming down the river bank about 20 feet off the deck and i handed my buddy the rod and started snapping pictures...

ive caught thousands of fish, havent got good pictures of eagles till then tho... usually dont bring that big ass camera but something told me to...

so i did..

Nikon D7000 with a 300 mm Nikon ED AF 1:4, it has a filter on it (B+W) but i didnt know it was tinted at first, which is why some of them are darker than the other 2...

so now i need to find a clear filter somewhere, its a 77 MM lens...

oh the nets are in too, it was the only fish hooked that day...

like i said, ive caught plenty, so i handed the rod off...

8-9 pound coho.. caught a few like that this year so didnt care too much...

So one fish for every 5 rods, huh? Sounds pretty slow.

i brought a bobber rod (NFC 11'3) my 2 XMG 50s (one is my main, the other was for Katie to bobber fish), my G1000 Pro for twitching, and a Fetha Styx 9 foot for Katie to throw spoons...

i only ended up using my XMG for spoons, the rest just sat in the truck..

we are fishing private property so we get to drive out on the beach, i could bring every rod i have if i wanted to and not have to worry about someone stealing it...

which is the main reason i brought the camera, nothing to worry about...

oh, and we only were there for an hour, which i spent 25 minutes taking pictures...

so about a 20 minutes of actual "fishing"...

I can't believe you Evo, your getting soft in your old age. Handing off rods and chasing birds with a camera. That's what old people do..

Bright fish? Can't believe you didn't go crazy snapping some grip-n-grin photo's of the buddy with the fish. Would have been cool with the (B+W) filter...
