Mixing Threads...I remember watching Brian's Song in Middle School (?) maybe, to teach us about empathy, racial relations, etc..or whatever?? GS was before my time, but I've seen highlights and he had fantastic talent!

Not many of that style and that style is fun to watch.
Roger Craig is another.

+ Jim Brown, Earl Campbell, Eric Dickerson, Lawrence Phillips to name a few others. Terrell Davis's form was close to a high runner, but I wouldn't call him a classic HR.

They don't make RB's like those anymore in favor of spark plug scat backs that can run horizontally and low to the ground (hide and seek ball). About the only high runner still around that I can think of is maybe Todd Gurley?

Anyway, down hill running with high knees is terrifying for all involved. I love seeing a RB simply truck a poor undersized DB.

Which is why the league has moved that way. One - they hide behind the line and two - they last a lot longer physically IMO.

You football experts forgot the most obvious example from contemporary football of a high stepper and a more classic RB, and the leading rusher last season: Derrick Henry.

I don’t understand why he doesn’t get hurt more watching im play, I think people don’t want to hit him as hard because they are scared.

True, but that certainly wouldn’t describe either Christ Carson or Carlos Hyde.
Those pounders eventually have no tread left on the tires.
I saw a video of Earl Campbell recently and it looked like he could barely walk.

Eh...Henry is just big, fast and ultra strong. I wouldn't call him a true high runner. To me, high runners naturally run with their knees breaking north of horizontal. Watch Henry run...it's just a normal gate with a slight forward lean (very similar to TD). Then watch video of Eric Dickerson and you'll immediately see the difference. DH is still amazing to watch though...

Ya I know what style you mean. Henry definitely isn’t the classic looking version, I just think his role and what he needs to do is the classic RB.

Dickerson is still one of my favorite RBs to watch videos of, nothing like him, ever.

All truth. I watched about 20 mins of ED highlights last night. Incredible!

While on the subject of gates, I then watched some Deion highlights. That dude had the greatest and smoothest stride I've ever seen on the field. 10 yard 2 steps at top speed. He could run faster holding the ball with 2 hands chest high than the fastest guys without a ball and pads. The only other thing I can compare it to is Griffey's swing. Zero hitches anywhere. Perfection.

You're exactly right.
When Saban trotted out Henry for the first time, I thought Ho Li Schitt, where does he find these guys ?
