David Schoen Former President Trump's Defense Lawyer paints Trump as a victim who hasn't received due process. The Constitution doesn't guarantee due process in impeachment proceedings. Yeah they give presidents the right to legal representation. Most legal experts agree that impeachment is constitutional after leaving office. The powers of the House and Senate for impeachment are spelled out in the Constitution. Trump's lawyers are attacking the process and ignoring the facts. I like the old English law that ends with execution following conviction.

Impeachment trial moves forward, six Republicans join all 48 Democrats and all 2 Independents in calling the trial Constitutional.

I watched the President's legal team today...they looked exactly like a team that was brought on last minute, unprepared, and like they don't expect to get paid, so are giving him his money's worth. They were miserable.

It won't matter, because this is a political proceeding, not a legal proceeding, but they were miserable by any measure.

If the Senate was impartial on this impeachment based on evidence presented it would be unanimous to convict. There is only one reason any Senator will vote not guilty and no reasonable reason not to vote guilty.

Playing within the party lines is the name of this shitshow, cowards more worried about their jobs than their country will ignore doing what is right in hope of future rewards from trump and his ilk, it's not hard to imagine that they will get boned in the end.

for Trump the first time around. He talked a good story, but then became

It's been a rather impressive lineup of Representatives presenting evidence against Trump.

No top secret investigations to find evidence, just showing the timeline of Trump tweets and speeches leading up to January 6th.

Much the evidence was new to me, and considerably worse for Trump than what I had been aware of before.

Many Republican Senators have been sitting back with their feet up on their desks and reading other stuff to show they are purposely ignoring what's being said.

The new security footage being released is rather disturbing. It shows just how close the mob was to achieving their goal of capturing Pence and members of Congress.

Also more audio of what the mob was saying while searching the capital. Being nice and polite was not part of the game plan.

Inciting insurrection. When isn't that a capitol crime?

This got me to thinking, if Trump is not convicted by the Senate, might the Dep't. of Justice criminally prosecute Trump for inciting insurrection? A criminal conviction for that should land Trump somewhere much less comfortable than Mar a Lago. That orange jumpsuit thing?

Trump may find it tough going on his quest to get out of the woods.
He could be charged under the 14the Amendment.

Would charging under the 14th be heard in Federal Court and have at a theoretically honest jury or judge decide?

Then showed news clips of Trump the Dems used, but continued on where the Dems cut them off, all it showed was Trump doubling down on threats.

There were clips of Dems making comments about fighting, mostly fighting legislation, but edited to just show them saying "fight".

Some edited to show them repeatedly saying fight fight fight fight.
