The Republicans will benefit from Dems actually convicting him. With Trump in the way Republicans can't proceed with life in a way they may want to.

Living in fear of Trump is what we see exhibited in the Republican party right now. Publicly either staying quiet or semi supporting the lies. Which keeps them from doing the normal things.

The backroom off the record conversations must be fascinating. Dems wondering if it's worth it, and Republicans urging them to continue the fight.

It's necessary for the historical record and legacy of every Senator who DOES NOT vote for conviction in the face of the evidence. Think the long game here.

You have a lot of faith in the electorate Salmo. Maybe it will get some Democrats a little more funding in an upcoming election, but even thats doubtful. I would be that in very few people will remember or care by the time the next election for their senator comes around. I think it is clear very clear most people have no idea who or what they are actually voting for. The R or D in front of their name is all that seems to really matter most of the time, and if significant numbers change from their normal pattern, it usually is something nationally going on that has nothing to do with the actual candidate.

In the end, it's all about accountability...and not just for Trump and his criminal wannabee crime syndicate family, but for every single enabler in Congress that sold their soul to him for a tax break for the ultra-rich.

Don't forget, the other 99.99% of you that voted for him are about to see the Trump tax increase...tax breaks aren't for you, silly boys.
