Back when I grew up you didn't have kids around that have been
raised on video games instead of playing outside (God forbid the
kid gets dirty!). Back then your dad could bust your butt with his
belt as punishment, and not even go to jail for it...not so today.

There are virtues that we were raised up around..respect for others,
respect for your parents, honor, integrity. We took care of things because
we may not have had the funds to replace them. Back then those things meant
something, and where ya came from was irrelevant. They still do have meaning
to some folks today, but for the most part they don't amount to diddly squat
for the younger (under 30) generations.

I think the "evolution" of video games as the new babysitter, family time, friend time, homework time, keep kids out of parents hair time, give parents time to smoke crack time, and the spoiled, selfish, me first, instant gratification culture that a lot of Americans have these days has everything to do with it.

I am not fully disagreeing with you, but is watching tv shows and movies any better? Because we have been doing that a lot longer than playing video games. I personally think a lot of video games are more challenging and interactive in a good way than a lot of ways people spend their time nowadays.

While talk about police reform consider that Game Wardens and such deal with obviously armed people on a daily basis and they don't shoot a whole lotta folks. I don't they walk up to folks with their weapons drawn. I know, from having worked with many of them, that they do encounter all sorts of hairy situations but they don't kill that many.

Not saying that the situations are identical, but it seems to me that police( in a broad brush sense) are way too hair-triggered.

I've never felt this was necessary.
Perhaps they should learn to be comfortable in their own skin and quit trying to be something their not?
