How do you rate it? I've had King's take 25 yard's off my reel and it's so smooth I did'nt know it!

I know that many people on this board and others think it is a great reel, and it is especially for the money. It is strong and smooth and reliable. But I like the Calais 10x better. Try it and you will know what I mean. The curado is a great reel though. I just like my Calais better.

For the money, the Curado is the best.

I have quickly become a direct drive junkie after fishing a 2201 with floats. I gotta have direct drive for everything now so, alas, the Curado and any other present day Shimano would not work

It is a great reel out of the box, but it turns sour on you after a few months of hard fishing. I've almost broke my pinky finger from the bearing play-back. Keep using this reel and you'll know what I mean when you got a good fish on the line. For those who say they had on for 10 year w/o any problem, all I got to say is "Take that collector's item out of the case and use it, God Damn I!"
Same defect for the Calcutta line. Last point, I use them, I don't abuse them.
