I've heard alot about invisible lines. What are the pros and cons of invisible line vs monofilament lines? Any good name brands and what are the costs compared to others? Thanks for all input on this- I'm a rookie just trying to figure out some of the basics.

I think you are referring to flourocarbon line. Pretty nice stuff for ultra clear conditions, but I don't use it very much. Have always had problems with knot strength. In my opinion, it is kind of a trick to make sure your knot is right.

Lot's of guys around here, have had problems with the Berkley Vanish. Seems like to flouro made by Segar is better. Hope this helps.

Another opinion. If you are just starting out, work on developing "feel" and your presentation right. Those two things make up for a lot of little technical stuff. The rest will take care of itself.

Berkley Vanish is good, but it has to be at least 14 lb test. Anything less will break a lot easier. Using 14 lb Fireline with 14 lb Vanish for leader, I have been able to pull numerous snags free.
