We should just build a wall and let all the freaks frolic in their own queerism.

They wont survive long and then we could tear down the wall and have our real estate back.

Occasionally, I agree with Salmo on things. The deviation to what seems off topic is still loosely related to the topic of fisheries management that is very political in nature. We should be challenging the faulty logic used by people when they select political candidates to vote for. It seems rather bizarre in the case of CM where social issues are the priority to him driven by his religious training, which his religion doesn’t support the stances he likely has on social issues. The social issues also do not directly impact him.

Anyway, both the socratic questioning and education serve the purpose of helping CM to reflect on what should truly be his priorities with voting in hopes that he can vote based upon his true priorities and not what he is wrongfully trained to believe or influenced by from society. He really values fiscal responsibility, the economy, outdoor recreation, fishing, hunting and these should what drives his decision making at the polls. Not social issues.

My churches support my beliefs. It was the teaching of my ministers and classroom teachers that led me.

Unless we deal with the social issues from population, climate, war, and so on we won't have the land, water, or money to deal with recreation/luxuries like hunting and fishing. Anyone who has been around hinting and fishing knows that there is less land, less water, less access and this is not going to change until we deal with society's needs.

Already, candidates for President are talking about moving water from the wet North to the dry South. I suspect that more efforts will be made to ship Columbia River water down south.

It was Pat Brown (CA governor, father of Jerry, and a Norther Californian) who responded, when asked why he was in favor of sending water to SoCal, was that it kept them down there. You want all those desert-living folks to move up here?

I believe it’s known as the Cascadia Subduction Zone, and it’s actually three techtonic plates moving around and colliding that potentially can cause huge mega quakes here in the region, and as we know, Tsunamis in Japan.

It’s tuff to be really prepared for something of that magnitude when it occurs on / in timelines measured in hundreds of years, or lifetimes and generations. These daze it’s hard for humans to prepare for a week without water, foods or services much less a quake that may happen in periods of time measured in 100’s of years.

Right now, I’d rather the governing body in charge to clean up the drugs, needles, oil and chem dumping, and the loss of access to our boat launches and habitat restoration destruction by illegal immigration, and out of control drug abuse than worry about an earthquake that likely will not occur in our short lifetimes. However, it’s good to put up emergency evacuation signs however, just in case...

Note: In keeping with the fishing/fish themes of this site, I’ll drop my techtonic prepping and warnings, and move on to -

“ How will this heavy rain here today affect my Coho fishing in south sound in the next few daze ? As it’s been so good this year, we want to know if this rain will end it, or bring in some more nice fish to catch ?”

Great fish, flatbrim. Your hat is questionable, though.

It’s been great coho fishing lately and numbers that we haven’t seen in quite a while. This season, we racked up Merg-esque numbers that would make even him blush. 70 fish bruh!

CM, if your church supports your beliefs, then your church isn’t adhering to Lutheran doctrine or following the Bible, therefore it is not Christian. It is a false teaching and false prophesy with culture being the idol.

Out in front of our place (Budd Inlet) there have been a lot of jumping coho. Some small, some medium, but no large. Lots off boat-based effort that appears to be mostly arm exercise. Have seen no hits, nets out, at all. One guy has been wading for, I believe, cutthroat and is using flies. He has been similarly non-successful when we have watched.

The Squaxins net our shore for Chinook and do reasonably well. Have never sen them after coho.

I've been fishing for them a couple of times with no bites, a bunch were jumping though. I know some people have been catching some from boats but I think it's like the 1 in 1000 of them that actually bites.

Whoa nellie FBP! This thread has nothing to do about religion, or your bible expertese! Was just trying to educate about an intiative that affects fish, and those of us that fish and have a vote. That's my primary voting ethic and something I hope crosses religious preferences . Everyone has there own issues. Religion has it's place for individuals and or families in there private homes or place of worship, and that's it. That IMO should never be mixed in government or politics. To many religions out there, and non-righteous ones get screwed if one has a political majority influencing policy. That's not an inclusive America that I was taught. If a local catastrophe ocurred I would hope you would help your neighbor regardless of there beliefs. We're all human. Just back from Sekiu. Limits of teeners every day before 9am. Clean up time.

Indeed R&G, and thx for the Sekiu update. We’re down here at Pt. D waiting for some More teeners to show, and hopefully this rain will tickle them in again !

Feesh - on !

Oh yeah bro if there was a local catastrophe I would help my neighbor, even though he is a homosexual and I am shunning him. When he moved in I told him that I don't approve of his degenerate lifestyle so I am not going to associate with him but if there is a neighborly problem he can tell me or I will tell him, fortunately, there have been no problems or further contact. My other neighbor is a Jehovah's witness and is shunning us both but like in an emergency she would speak to us too. But like in an emergency, or if their is a local criminal roaming, we are all on the same side.

Down at Squaxin those jumping coho can be quite tempermental and difficult to get to strike.. Some guys throw spinners and plugs at them. May years ago a friend of mine had a beach place near there. I was visiting him and he told me to go out in his little row boat and try to catch one. He had some frozen herring and some mooching rods and reels. I trolled around with a light lead and cutplug herring. I caught a coho about 10 lbs. Never went back.

CM,

As I’m sure you know, those net pen coho don’t like to bite very well. But often times there will be a bite where you can’t miss. Put a fair bit of time in and have a variety of techniques ready to go and you will find success, especially if you are fishing from a boat.

This discussion is fun! I'm a believer, so any discussion of religion I like to sit back and listen, at least.

As for our next governor, I spoke with Reichert in person about needed changes to the Commission and he listened. He's a good listener. Semi Bird is a goon, I agree.

Pick up the most recent issue of THE REEL NEWS and read about the two Q&A questionaires that P.S.A put to the two candidates. It might change the mind of many who put fish high in their life priorities.

I admitedly had my mind made up early because I met Dave when I worked King County for WDF, and I like his political history and his hard core law enforcement stance.

Staging coho can be a bitch to get to bite. They’ll jump in your face all day. Generally you just need to be there for the 10-20 minutes per day that they do tend to turn on and bite. If you enjoy frustrating fishing, lockjaw staging coho are a perfect game to play.
Myself, I’d rather just fish for searun cutts and feel happy when I accidentally hook one of those coho.

Tug, isn't thathiw it always seems to go? I have met a few governors, both as candidates and afterwards. I always felt more supportive, and was bot D and R folks, because I knew them and could excuse some of their views I didn't share.

Then to agree with stonefish that I most enjoy fishing for fish that strike and not just tease you by jumping around. For them, a little rag gill net (as one of may bosses "may" have done at oe time) puts more fish in the freezer.

Well that discussion just went to hell.

“ For them, a little rag gill net (as one of may bosses "may" have done at oe time) puts more fish in the freezer.“

Back to my hate of nets, even if it’s for those folks that can’t seem to catch fish with rod and reel, lures and barbless hooks. TIC wink

Anyways, it’s time to head out for some bird hunting this afternoon. The truck is loaded with a couple 28 gage shotguns, three bird dawgs, my beautiful wife, and a box or three of non tox shotshells. The weather looks good, and hoping for some Upland dinner fare tonite !

Have a great sunday y’all, whatever you’re playing is about.
