Hey Sparkey and Rat. Going over to run floats and jigs in the gator water this weekend. If the water is right, I'll be calling for a couple dozen fed ex sandies to arrive on 3-23 for a dunkin in the Root on 3-24. I'm going hose those lake run brats. I can't wait to see the looks on their faces when that first sandie heads down through the holding water of my favorite float hole. The drones will probably want to start scarfin down my bait. Should be interesting.

Outdoor Emporium?, Good selection and fair prices and no attitudes. What's the problem?
There's definately worse, try dealing with John Martinas up in Everett. When ever I have to go into his store to get a part for a reel, it feels like I'm getting a tooth pulled. Too much attitude for me.
Keep your hooks sharp!

You tell me who sells Lami's cheeper!!, their just like any other store if they don't have it they will order it. The prices are fair service is good and there open 7 days a week. and a good bunch of guys work there. When I'm up in AK they will send me whatever I want no problem. And yes they are just moving because MR Allen bought the block.
You should never wish someone to loose their job, it's bad mojo, now your going to loose yours.

I do not go there that much at all but the times I have they have went out of there way to help me get what I needed even if they did not have it on hand. Yes I do go to most of all the small mom and pop outfitters as I would love nothing more than to see them stick around but there is times when only the big outlets will do.

I consider O.E. a mom and pop type operation. They have been great. If you have ever been into sportees in redmond you'll love Outdoor emporium.

Hey fishinbrad, I don't like OE, I don't like how they run their business for many reasons. Where does a$$hole come into, nothing personal to you, unless well, maybe you work there. Even if you do, my problem is with the way the business is run not with the people who work there. Goodluck with the move, where are you guys moving anyways? I like the local shop too. (not too many around ) Better service and information.
OE does have a big slection and prices are lower on some of the items. I have been in there many times and every time that I have been in there I get an attitude from the ass behind the reel counter. (you know who u r you crank) Just to say you have lost a lot of bussiness from me( it really doesn't matter what you think) When somebody ask to see a reel you don't reply by saying it's too much , just show the reel to the ****ing customer. But I am willing to pay a little more for the friendly service from my local shop. Plus they can get just about anything you need, you just need to ask.

AFLY, I know what you mean about the reel guy, At least you got a reply from him when I ask a question or try to get his attention he turns the other way. As for the rest of the guys they are great and make up for the reel guys rudeness. I drive all the way from Artic to get thier. Sportco's cashiers are the biggest jerks, every time you go in to the place you get treated poorly. just my two cent's

I've only been to OE a couple times but the prices and selection are good. I can usually find what I need closer to home though. My vote for crappiest service is Jerry's in Everett.

Yes - OE would FedEx shrimp out to you. I had them FedEx me a rod when I was in Chicago for a while. Got it the next day. I support them because they are willing to provide a great selection at good prices and are local for anyone around Seattle. Like Ron Bob said, shop at Sportee's and then you will have a whole new appreciation for OE. As for reel guy, he has bad days to, just a few more than most folks .

I shop the mom & pop stores too, just happens OE is closest to home. As to the reel counter guy, he can be a bit crankey but he always has given me good advice on rods & reels. Talked me into getting a low cost back-up bug rod that wound up saving my out of state trip. Thanked him upon my return with a handshake and a big smile,he lit up like he had just won the lotto! I imagine those days behind the counter can get long,so cut the guy some slack.

I got to say...the most awful experience I've ever had in a tackle shop was John Martinas's place in Everett. I tell ya...as my name says, I'm a rookie (only been fishing for 9 months now) and when I asked him a quesiton he made me feel like a complete idiot...which i may be...but i don't expect to be made to feel like it when I go someplace to put my hard-earned money down!
I tell ya there has been no better place then Holiday Market in Burlington. Those guys are so nice and eager to share their knowledge... (I always end up spending more then I plan in there, but its not because of sales pressure, I just get pumped about fishing every time i go in there!) They also publish an e-mail newsletter twice a week with fishing reports from every-day people... i find that very helpful.

Fellow Fisher's My boat and tackle box are full of OE supplies and have been for the last 10 years. I'd agree that on some days the guys can be pretty condescending but other times they can be pretty cool. Part of that equation might be the attitude you walk through the front door with. I've found their prices to be competitive and better than most when they have a sale. I recently bought a Lami G1313T for $115 bucks. Who else has the same rod for that low of a price? They are moving, but it could be a year off. They will still be downtown. My worry is that after the move they'll have to raise the prices to pay for the new rent. Time will tell though. I've shopped the rest around the area over the years, and if you want real cranky people, try Narrows Marina. I can't believe those guys are still in business. They've got good stuff allright, but don't ask any questions! Again, maybe it's the attitude thing... I'd agree that John's in Everett isn't the best bang for the buck, but the seminar he puts on in the spring is sure a good deal for the novice salmon fisherman. The price is right, as in free, and there are usually some notable area fisherman there willing to share some excellent info. As far as saying things like OE sucks, etc. I don't find that as helpful as knowing why they suck. Everybody has an opinion, but some facts might help get your point across a little better. Maybe you're right and they do suck, but tell us why. Flame me if you want, I can take it! I'm just trying to tone down some of the pure negative stuff that seems to be more and more frequent on this board! Go catch a fish and tell how great that was!!!

Well salmontracker I don't work there nor would I ever want to stand behind a counter and help a bunch of know it all fishermen day in day out, Not my idea of fun. But on the other side of the counter, if I'm not fishing there's no better place for me to be other than a tackle shop, and OE is one of my favorites. When chrome/22 posted I went into shock and started to shake and sweat it felt like I was going to hurl, like a boozer who found that his favorite bar was closing. I then regained my composure and called down there to get the low down. To my relief their just moving, in the next year or so that is,and I don't know where. As to my A$$hole statement, it was toward anybody who goes into any store with a chip on their shoulder and treats the counter persons like $&!+, thats how their going to be treated right back, that's not how you hookup with a discount!!.I've seen this happen a few times there and other places. Like you said, I don't know your hookup so I can't comment on the beef you have with them, from your strong statements it must have been a major altercation.
OE's not a mom and pop, but it's not a chain either. I've been to many stores in the last 25 years throughout the northwest, and in my opinion OE's one of the best. Just my .02

I did not go in there with an attitude or a chip on my shoulder. Infact I was minding my own bussiness. just getting some stuff needed for that day since my other shop was not open. When I was browsing and wanted to look at a reel(Sustain) I waited patiently back ther till some one came over too help. His first response to me was when I asked to see the Reel was it is very expensive reel. I told him I was not asking the price but to see the reel, after a few hesitation he gave it to me. ( This was not the first time . He has passed me over for someone else because they were dressed in a shirt and tie. My fault for wearing jeans and not looking like I had money to blow.)I looked at it and thought you arogant ass I could pay for 2 of these right now but instead I returned the reel and thanked him and left and bought the reel some where else. As far as a comment about giving a guy a break because he stands there all day. Well to bad. It is a customer service oriented job--Sales. He can't take his hiss fit out on others thats bad service. I don't know how many other people had made the same comment about him. I don't have a problem with the store and the rest of the crew that works there, they are nice. But for that reason of the Reel guy alone, I will not shop there. My choice. I know a lot of people who go there and shop and they will continue to do so, and that is there choice. Thats what so great about america, we have freedom to say what we we believe, as long as you don't act on it in a violent way . It seems to me that everyone who posted for this post had *****ed about some one or something since they started her. Its called freedom. Tight lines.

Someone mentioned Jerry's in Everett, they would put any rudeness at OE to shame! It is incredible to me that someone would hate there job so much and continue to do it for so dam long. Sell, sell, sell. Maybe someone who can be nice will buy your flippin store! C

well just like to put my 2 bits in, i was at the OE on the 7th and bought a new ambassador 6500 c4, the guy keep bringing up the price like I wasn't able to afford it or something very upsetting to me. I went ahead and purchased the reel althought i felt that I shouldn't have. I usually get my fishing gear at the toutle fly shop because of the good deals and good gear. I will never again shop at OE.

If you are looking for fast service with a big smile, then OE may not be the place to go.
I have gotten both some good and lousy deals at OE - their dry trout flies, for example, are cheap and lousy quality - I would not buy flies from them again. I would, however, buy another pair of waders there.
I once bought a fly rod at OE and it broke second time I used it. To their credit, they took it back and gave me a credit towards a higher quality rod without questions.
You want really lousy service? Try shopping in France. OE will start looking pretty good.

Man, I really opened a can of worm's with this one! I know all of the old timer's down at O.E. & will have a word with the "reel-guy" as he is now known. Don't honestly think he realize's how many of you he has pissed off, but then again he might just not care! Maybe we should get him on a % commission paycheck then the guy will be pushing the high $$ reel's at ya with bolth hands!

It seems that it's obvious that everyone that read and post these replies have a computer and access to the internet, should probably shop in this manner too, if, sales people behind the counter seems to get the better of them. If discounts are what your looking for, there's plenty electronically. I shop at many places and know a lot of people personally and haven't had any problems yet.
