The Skagit is closed to all fishing right now.

Yes there are salmon in the skagit, actually every kind. Like said earlier it is closed right now but come august that should be a different story. There are a number of kings that go through every year but they are on the endangered species list and closed. Odd numbered years (like this year) one of the largest humpy (pink) runs in the state. They can be caught on about anything but I prefer throwing small pink spoons. Silvers are also in there and they to are relatively easy to catch. Many people plunk with roe or sand shrimp or use brass/green dick nites. I prefer the silver blue fox, size 4. Bank access on the skagit is relatively easy to find. I do most of my fishing on the south side of the river near clear lake. As for sockeye and chums I have yet to catch one (I haven't fished for them). From what I heard this was a very bad year for chums but when they are in most people use chartroose jigs or winged bobbers with sand shrimp. Maybe that will help. Just make sure you know if the river is open before fishing.

Just wait 'til August Kory ... you'll probably have more fish around than you'll know what to do with and you'll have the chant of "Humpy, Humpy, Humpy" ringing through you head!
