Everybody pay attention, The word on the street is a possible main stream columbia river closure due at end of the week because the sportsman have taken 3500 fish and the commercials took an extra 4000 fish. I Guess there is a meeting somewhere on wensday so we had better find out where and make a presence there if we hope to continue to fish on the largest run of spring chinook since the late 30's. I think this is absolutley ridiculous that the sportsman get dinged for the commercials greed!!!!! WE need to do smething and fast. THanks Superfly

its hard to understand this when all the hatchary fish are clubbed at the end anyway with water in a extreme condition. the % of smot that surive are to be low.... hatchary should be able to spawn....

You said this was street talk and that's just what I think it is . Yakima Herald reported in todays paper that it's the largest run since they've began keeping records. The numbers you descibed are way to small to have such a big effect. 365,000 is a lot of springers. No desrespect but I hope I'm right. The Duck(Jim Marquis)

Dudes, don't get your tits in a ringer, even if they close the main Columbia below Bonneville, the Wind, Drano Lake, Little White Salmon, Yakima and Klicktat will still all be open for springers. And I haven't heard anything about an early closre of the mainstem... ..

Well, That would make perfect sense. Better get used to it, guys. We just don't live in a state that is in the business of making sport fishermen happy. Once the state has your lisence money, they could give a $hit about weather or not your as a sportsman have an opportunity to actually catch fish. Sort of makes a guy wonder why he bothers to follow all the regulations. Maybe all those Hillbillies I see on the rivers, snagging fish and keeping three times their daily limits are actually the enlightened ones. At least they're getting their money's worth, so to speak. Just a thought, not a real good one, but a thought nontheless.
