I have used my curado really hard for 3 years and it is still working great!!! but this last weekend I had some heavy line on it for pulling plugs. and was not liking the way it was casting for drifting. so I took out my back up curado that had 10# on. I hadn't used this reel yet and after a few cast I knew it was time to send the old reel in and have it looked at and serviced. it just didn't work as smooth as the new one. so my question is where can I send it to have a simple service done on it. from what I have read I should send it right to Shimano. is that the best idea? what is the address to send it to them?

oh and I did land to springers on the new curado. the biggest was about a #23 the other about #8. what a way to break in a new reel!!!! maybe it will be my first choice and the other will stay in the box for backup. laugh

It probally just needs a little greese. You could send it to shimano but a local tacal shop that works on reels would probally go through it and do the cleanin and greesin for about 5$.

I had the same problem but with a little greese it was like new.

Hey DC,
What's up my friend!!! Take it down to Puget Sound Sports on Devoe in Olympia, George is the reel guy there and does great work. I know you have run into him on the Satsop as that is one of his favorite rivers. Turn around time is usually about a week. Costs about $10-15 for him to go through it and I think that includes drag pad change out also.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff laugh laugh

I first got the idea to ship my Shimanos back to the factory for repair from this board and if you need anything more than a lube job I would highly recommend doing so.

I had a Calcutta 150 with a stripped gear, a 400 that just didn't work smoothly any more, and a Corsair 400 that just acted "cheap." I sent them all to the factory. They repaired the 150, including cleaning and lubing; they overhauled the 400; and they replaced the Corsair with an updated model. They did all that for nothing and they shipped them back UPS without even charging shipping/handling. That's mighty good service and it keeps me firmly in the Shimano camp. It took only three weeks. I think I had them all together, lying around, while I looked for and excuse to go up to Everett for about 4 months. With gas to go to Everett, time, and the fee Big J charges, I think I saved a bundle. Don't hesitate to give the factory a try.

I am at my office and don't have the address here, but it's the California address on the box, if you've still got the box.

I had the same situation as Tdoge, different reels and the facory sent a new one two day no charge .
I will never send a shimano reel to local shops again.
factory is better. My .02 Cents.
I will and do support my local tackle shops , not the repaire service shops.

thanks guys!!!

I will try Puget Sound Sports. I think it just wants a lilttle TLC. It still works great but not like the new one. funny how I thought the old one was still like new. It's like the frog in the boiling water.
