Im chompin at the bit. I believe this has been disscussed in the past but, hey I'll bring it up again. Why do we have to wait for June 1? Is it just a date? If thats the case, allow us a few days earlier and let fishheads make a fishing vacation out of Memorial Day Weekend. I can pay tribute to our Veterans on the river as well as anywhere. Seems a bit ridiculous that a couple days makes all the difference to the spawned natives-they are not to be retained as it is. It would loosen the pressure on those rivers -the few that are open. The summerruns are in the river now and I feel they F&W should give the Sportspeople this benefit.

Dont worry Coho, June 1 will be here before we know it! Hopefully this summer run will be just as good or better than last year. I wonder if the Sky would kick out very many summer runs in May if it was open? I read the old fathful regs book and it said that generally rivers open on the first of the month and close on the 15th or 1st of the month. So June 1 is just a date, nuthing technical about it. They should open it up memorial day weekend, to spread out pressure.

oh well....two more weeks =)

Somebody here before has said it has something to do with protecting smolts from the huge number of campers out over the holiday weekend.

Some of the less informed or not so bright individuals camping along our rivers and streams would unfortunatly mistake the smolts
as trout and end up having a hay day on them.
With the frying pan rollin all day long beside the river banks.Good luck,
