I am thinking of running a shuttle on the Nooch this year. Any thoughts on the idea would be appreciated. What is a fair price and would there be a real need for such a service ? I could also do the Satsop.

I would use you for sure. If the price wassn't too high. Also are you just going to ferry people or will you be moving trucks and trailers as well?

Ive used a suttle service on the cowlitz and they charge anywhere from 8 to 15 dollars, and thats a great idea for the nooch, cause that will cut down on alot of parking. Good idea. cool

So Local,
Great idea. You will not lack for customers. You should, however, check with your insurance carrier before you start driving someone else's forty thousand dollar SUV around. I understand that some shuttle operators have been bit in the butt because they bent someones tow rig and got sued. Another way to address this problem is to have your lawyer make you a disclamer absolving you of any responsibility. Wouldn't surprise me if you can't find a good one on the web. Good luck on this venture. This is a service that is sorely needed on the good old Nooch.

OUTLAW THE DRIFTBOATS? Oh ya, good idea. Sleds belong on the Nooch don't they? Why don't you and your sled go 'dog' the Cowlitz with the other 1,000 people and stay off the Nooch, or just stay below Black Creek so we don't have to hear you bogg down when you're coming up river. You're a true fisherman!

Oh and as far as the service is concerned. You might have to look into getting a business permit. Because if you're hauling people, then you're considered a taxi and would probably need some sort of license/permit. I bet you'll have to drive vehicles around to avoid licensing issues. DEFFINITELY CHECK WITH YOUR INSURANCE PROVIDER AND AN ATTORNEY WOULDN'T BE A BAD IDEA!! I too would use the service if it were reasonably priced. The guys on the Peninsula charge anywhere from $11-$15. Check into seeing if you can advertise with Bob and maybe he can provide an area for other people to post their numbers and what rivers they service. Good idea and keep us posted.

We used the shuttle service on the Hoh, cost us $20 and worth every penny. You guys have to remember it costs more than just gas when you drive a rig. Figure about .40 a mile. It adds up really quick. From the White bridge to Black Creek with 2 rigs and turn around is 48 miles, not counting driving 2 rigs to get there.

Thanks for the feedback, I will probably follow through with the idea, but it will be moving vehicle to the take outs, not providing rides to launch sites. This should
alleviate some of the parking problems. I would be willing to do some summer run shuttles but will plan on the winter season. laugh

Dan S, no I'm not allright

Dom, Don't own any kind of boat. I'm just one of those lowly bank maggots who has to put up with all you. You complain about the sleds, but how many holes do you leave for us? None, you have no problem stopping and fishing the hole I'm in. So next time row to the next hole and leave me alone.

Well, gee, dude. If you bank maggots would stay the hell off the rivers, we boaters would have more water to fish too.

See how stupid that sounds? rolleyes

Well, Well looks like we have another one of the new guys trying to ruffle some feathers. Fishndude why don't you quit your *****en. Just because you can't afford a boat, don't take it out on the ones who can! Drift boats have been around for many years and only the last few years have people started complaining about them. And the only people complaining are guys like you that don't have one. Not all boat owners have bad etiquette! Just because you had a bad experience with one doesn't mean we are all bad. Worry about things that have some importance. If someone does stop to fish the hole you are fishing who cares you don't own the river, (not to say that it would make me mad) will you act like a little boy and say "you can't fish here I was here first"? We all need to grow up a little and work together. Hving fisherman battle with other fisherman isn't what we are fishing for. We are out there to enjoy ourselves and other while we are in the outdoors.
